Genesis 22:1–7 Tanakh
Some time afterward, God put Abraham to the test. He said to him, “Abraham,” and he answered, “Here I am.” And He said, “Take your son, your favored one, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the heights that I will point out to you.” So early next morning, Abraham saddled his ass and took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and he set out for the place of which God had told him. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place from afar. Then Abraham said to his servants, “You stay here with the ass. The boy and I will go up there; we will worship and we will return to you.” Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and put it on his son Isaac. He himself took the firestone and the knife; and the two walked off together. Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, “Father!” And he answered, “Yes, my son.” And he said, “Here are the firestone and the wood; but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?”

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Hallelujah. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the sky, His stronghold. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him for His exceeding greatness. Praise Him with blasts of the horn; praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with lute and pipe. Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with loud-clashing cymbals. Let all that breathes praise the Lord. Hallelujah.

What Worship is Not

Worship is not doing what the crowd wants
Psa
worship is not doing polls and studys
worship is not doing what feels good to us
worship is not doing something to fight boredom,
If God were to write it in a book how he wants us to worship...
singing, raising our hands
dancing

In the temple worship
an outsider was not allowed in the temple
an unclean person was not allowed to worship

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Psalm 89:7 Tanakh
a God greatly dreaded in the council of holy beings, held in awe by all around Him?
we are not going to a movie or to the fair, we are coming to worship God

And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD. ex
the people had to ready themselves to meet God. they had no choice but to wash.
also to sanctify themselves, set apart,
Revelation 4:10–11 AV

Rev 4 10- 11
coming to worship starts by preparing our hearts
worship is not about me and my comfort
worship is about God
our dress should reflect how we are honoring Him
unfortunately our dress rules were a rule
unfortunately our dress rules were a rule
when the meaning behind the dress was lost = it became legalistic

Who Do We Worship?

this sounds like a dumb question
when we insert our interest / pleasure above God
when we wont go here because of their music it’s ourselves we worship
when we do the worship thing God is not worshipped
n
Matthew 15:8–9 AV
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Are we worshipping ourselves?
Are we Just Going through the motions?
Is our heart prepared when we walk through the doors?
Do we think that we are coming into the presence of almighty God

In Spirit And Truth

True worship occurs only when that part of man, his spirit, which is akin to the divine nature (for God is spirit), actually meets with God and finds itself praising him for his love, wisdom, beauty, truth, holiness, compassion, mercy, grace, power, and all his other attributes.

True worship is when the spirit, the immortal and invisible part of man, speaks to and meets with God, who is immortal and invisible.”2

IN TRUTH
our worship needs to honest, not pretending
when we sing are the words true do we mean what we sing?
are the words according to the truth of God’s word?
Conclusion
is your /our worship in vain?
are we really worshiping?
worship starts when we get up in the morning
who are we going to honor today
who’s worth are we going to bow down to?
