What You Saying?
What You Saying?
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you continue to obey my teaching, you are truly my followers.
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
33 They answered, “We are Abraham’s children, and we have never been anyone’s slaves. So why do you say we will be free?”
34 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, everyone who lives in sin is a slave to sin.
35 A slave does not stay with a family forever, but a son belongs to the family forever.
36 So if the Son makes you free, you will be truly free.
37 I know you are Abraham’s children, but you want to kill me because you don’t accept my teaching.
38 I am telling you what my Father has shown me, but you do what your father has told you.”
39 They answered, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said, “If you were really Abraham’s children, you would do the things Abraham did.
40 I am a man who has told you the truth which I heard from God, but you are trying to kill me. Abraham did nothing like that.
41 So you are doing the things your own father did.” But they said, “We are not like children who never knew who their father was. God is our Father; he is the only Father we have.”
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were really your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and now I am here. I did not come by my own authority; God sent me.
43 You don’t understand what I say, because you cannot accept my teaching.
44 You belong to your father the devil, and you want to do what he wants. He was a murderer from the beginning and was against the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he shows what he is really like, because he is a liar and the father of lies.
45 But because I speak the truth, you don’t believe me.
46 Can any of you prove that I am guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me?
47 The person who belongs to God accepts what God says. But you don’t accept what God says, because you don’t belong to God.”
48 They answered, “We say you are a Samaritan and have a demon in you. Are we not right?”
49 Jesus answered, “I have no demon in me. I give honor to my Father, but you dishonor me.
50 I am not trying to get honor for myself. There is One who wants this honor for me, and he is the judge.
51 I tell you the truth, whoever obeys my teaching will never die.”
52 They said to Jesus, “Now we know that you have a demon in you! Even Abraham and the prophets died. But you say, ‘Whoever obeys my teaching will never die.’
53 Do you think you are greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died, too. Who do you think you are?”
54 Jesus answered, “If I give honor to myself, that honor is worth nothing. The One who gives me honor is my Father, and you say he is your God.
55 You don’t really know him, but I know him. If I said I did not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I obey what he says.
56 Your father Abraham was very happy that he would see my day. He saw that day and was glad.”
57 They said to him, “You have never seen Abraham! You are not even fifty years old.”
58 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I am!”
59 When Jesus said this, the people picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus hid himself, and then he left the Temple.
John 8:
1 Another time there was a great crowd with Jesus that had nothing to eat. So Jesus called his followers and said,
2 “I feel sorry for these people, because they have already been with me for three days, and they have nothing to eat.
3 If I send them home hungry, they will faint on the way. Some of them live a long way from here.”
4 Jesus’ followers answered, “How can we get enough bread to feed all these people? We are far away from any town.”
5 Jesus asked, “How many loaves of bread do you have?” They answered, “Seven.”
6 Jesus told the people to sit on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves, gave thanks to God, and divided the bread. He gave the pieces to his followers to give to the people, and they did so.
7 The followers also had a few small fish. After Jesus gave thanks for the fish, he told his followers to give them to the people also.
8 All the people ate and were satisfied. Then his followers filled seven baskets with the leftover pieces of food.
9 There were about four thousand people who ate. After they had eaten, Jesus sent them home.
10 Then right away he got into a boat with his followers and went to the area of Dalmanutha.
11 The Pharisees came to Jesus and began to ask him questions. Hoping to trap him, they asked Jesus for a miracle from God.
12 Jesus sighed deeply and said, “Why do you people ask for a miracle as a sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to you.”
13 Then Jesus left the Pharisees and went in the boat to the other side of the lake.
14 His followers had only one loaf of bread with them in the boat; they had forgotten to bring more.
15 Jesus warned them, “Be careful! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”
16 His followers discussed the meaning of this, saying, “He said this because we have no bread.”
17 Knowing what they were talking about, Jesus asked them, “Why are you talking about not having bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your minds closed?
18 You have eyes, but you don’t really see. You have ears, but you don’t really listen. Remember when
19 I divided five loaves of bread for the five thousand? How many baskets did you fill with leftover pieces of food?” They answered, “Twelve.”
20 “And when I divided seven loaves of bread for the four thousand, how many baskets did you fill with leftover pieces of food?” They answered, “Seven.”
21 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand yet?”
: 1-21
27 Jesus and his followers went to the towns around Caesarea Philippi. While they were traveling, Jesus asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They answered, “Some say you are John the Baptist. Others say you are Elijah, and others say you are one of the prophets.”
29 Then Jesus asked, “But who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”
30 Jesus warned his followers not to tell anyone who he was.
To know Jesus is to be liberated from all error and evil

Who do man say I am?
Who do you say I am?
