Leaving the crowds

Do we get so busy that we might miss or even sleep through an encounter with Christ?

We all need to take time away from the hectic pace we live at.

Possible ways to get away -

Starting the day with a quiet time

                   Using time in the car

Taking advantage of Ruah Days, retreats, etc.

          Need to plan, deliberately schedule

Why get away?

                   Prayer – conversation/closeness with God

Preparation – for the work ahead

Transformation – into the likeness of Christ

2 Corinthians 3: 18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Listening to Jesus

Jesus conversing with Moses and Elijah – represent the Law and the Prophets

Disciples told to listen to Jesus

There are many voices claiming our attention

          Why Jesus?

                   He supersedes Moses and Elijah

                   He is God’s chosen

                   Resurrection

Leaving the mountain

          Peter – let’s stay here

We can’t hold onto the “high points” in life – not emotions

          We can’t seek after experience

Service – Jesus has to go to Jerusalem and give His life; we also have a work to do.
