Keeping in Step With the Spirit - 7/01/07

When we became a Christian we were made alive in the Spirit, we were set free,  but that is only the beginning.  The freedom God gives us is not the freedom to do what we want but the freedom to do God’s will.  The rest of our life is to be spent keeping in step with the Spirit

What?

            Walk in the Spirit

                        Decision – we must choose to move

                        Direction – not aimless, or according to our own desires but guided by the Spirit

                        Destination – the goal is to become more like Christ (fruit of the Spirit)

Why?

Necessary to love.

Necessary to overcome the sinful nature

            Conflict between our natural desires and the Spirit’s desires

            Dead to the sinful nature

Necessary to produce the fruit of the Spirit.

How?

            Be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18)
