I want to commend you for being here tonight and also for being intentional to build community with each other. I know that ministry is wildly rewarding, but its also just as wildly challenging! Having trusted friends around you to cheer you on and lift you up, but who can also speak truth to you is invaluable.

I realize I’m a new face to some of you, and not so new to others. But i’m really excited about this next season of womens ministry. I know the Lord has been working in a way that only He can. If you had told me 10 years ago that I would be a womens pastor I would’ve said you must be talking to the girl next to me, but after I got married and then had kids, and miscarriages and different struggles the need for effective womens ministry really hit me. And seeing women stand up and walk fully into their calling, whatever that may be, burned in my heart. Even through that though I didn’t see this position in my future, I just knew I was called to make disciples and further the name of Jesus in whatever way I could.

I want to speak to you as women and leaders in not only Gateway, but specifically Gateway Women.

You may think you husband is the one in ministry, but you are just as much in ministry as your husband. You have been called to be a Christ follower and a Christ proclaimer!

Recipe for effective ministry

We as believers were given the Great Commission, not just those on staff!

Here is what the Lord put on my heart to speak to you tonight. I felt I have this time with you tonight to bring an encouraging word, and by that I mean, He wants to put Courage in you!

Courage means: “The ability to do something that frightens one. OR Strength in the face of pain or grief.”

1. Called to God

We have to draw near to Him, daily bible reading yes, but really studying His word and tuning our ears to hear Him all throughout the day.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

2. Sent By God

And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.

It could say, gave them power first but it doesn’t, it says He began to send them out. The Lord has sent us, we just have to partner with Him and obey His word, and if we do that He will give us all the power we need to accomplish His will on earth as it is in heaven!

So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

3. Power given by God

Once they were willing to be obedient they were given power.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

I know that there are different seasons of life, sometimes its not the season to be involved in more than 1 thing. But you cant live in that season forever! We are called to make disciples, be in community with each other, use our gifting and talents to encourage and support the expansion of the Gospel. I want you to hear from me that I want you to be involved! I consider you all Leaders! But you also know our heart for family and we never want your family to suffer from your over involvement in the ministry. We don’t expect a 2 for 1 with you and your husband.

I do want to call you to press into the Lord, step out into leadership, and walk in the power and the authority given to you as a believer making disciples of the people in your sphere of influence!
