Fathers have a responsibility to love, instruct and discipline their children in the ways of the Lord. In return they are to be honoured and obeyed by their children.

Fathers have a responsibility to love, instruct and discipline their children in the ways of the Lord. In return they are to be honoured and obeyed by their children. However we sometimes emphasize one area more than others. WE sometimes push these responsibilities off on the mothers. We only feel the need to discipline, while sometime we only instruct.

We have the responsibility to also look out for the physical and spiritual well being of our children as well.

The Father With Faith V. 14-16

He approaches Jesus with reverence

He commands Jesus to have mercy on his son.

shares his son’s situation

He has seizures, or possibly act insane; believed to be affected by the phases of the moon. To suffer epileptic seizures (associated in ancient times with the supernatural power of the moon.)

It causes him to experience harm. To undergo an experience, usually difficult and normally with the implication of physical or psychological suffering.

He falls suddenly into fire

The disciples could not heal him.

The man had so much faith in Jesus, that he thought His disciples could help.

They could not heal him.

To heal, conceived of as providing care to improve a situation.

The Generation Without Faith V. 17-18

The whole generation is addressed here.

They are

Faithless, characterized by a lack of belief and trust in someone or something; especially of those who deny or reject the truths of the Gospel.

Twisted,

Twisted, to cause someone to depart from correct behavior and thus engage in serious wrong doing. They are perverse. The deviate from what is considered moral, right, proper, or good.

Jesus rebukes the demon and the boy was healed immediately.

Provided care to that improved the boys situation.

The Disciples Limited Faith V. 19-20

The disciples question “why couldn’t they cast it out.

Little faith not no faith like the generation.

Its not the amount of faith but the effectiveness of faith that counts.

Moving the mountain is proverbial in Jewish literature for doing what is virtually impossible.

Faith simply means that if God calls a person to do something, it will be accomplished through his power and the person’s obedience.

Fathers and church, we have to have a focused faith.

With it, we will be able to accomplish all that God has assigned us to do.

We have a generations of people who don’t know Jesus.

Some of them are in our homes, some are in our neighborhoods, some of them are in our families.

What are we going to do?

Do like this father did.

He exercised his faith. He put his faith in Jesus, to do what others couldn’t do.

I can do the impossible I can see the invisible Because I got faith

I believe in His healing power

I believe in His saving power

I believe in His delivering power
