A Divine Complaint
Intro: Thoughtfulness about the things of this world and thoughtlessness about the things of eternity, is a very common sin among the people of God. Superficial thinking leads to superficial living.
How often the Lords people fail to recognize their owner or the blessings he provides to them. Inconsiderateness is a great hindrance to the growth of spiritual life because it is dishonoring to God. Mere talk and mechanical action will never substitute for solemn heart reflection. If we would take time to meditate until fire burns, our testimony would not be so powerless and fruitless.
“My people doth not consider.” This is the language of wounded love. Lets take some time tonight to think on some things that we fail to consider as we should and of which God might rightly complain, “My people doth not consider.”
Main: We don’t consider…….
I)
II) The Cost at which we have been Redeemed, or we would be more Thankful.
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Have I considered it sufficiently that the peace which I now enjoy was purchased by the blood of Christ’s cross, and that it is mine, not for any good in me, but because of His mercy and grace.
III) The Relationship to Him who keeps us, or we would be more Restful.
“……..ye are not your own.”
You belong to Christ, have we thought enough into this blessed truth? As members of His body, will he not be careful over us? Why take anxious thought about your physical life, does not your Father know that you have need of these things? Let not your hearts be troubled, ye believe in God believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions. If were not so I would have told you………. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
IV) The Privilege as sons and daughters or we would be more Joyful
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Thank God we are his sons. If we would only remember that we are His sons and He is our Father, how much joy we would retain. Knowing that we own what he owns, we inherit what Christ inherits. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
