Home sweet Home
Intro:
D.L Moody said, “The thought of Heaven has cheered the soul of many believers. Some say that we are fools to believe in Heaven. But, to deny Heaven is to deny Jesus, for he came from Heaven, it is to place our departed loved ones in the cold dark grave, it is to deprive millions of Christians of the greatest hope they have. To deny Heaven is equal to murder for it kills hope, to thievery for it robs joy, to slander because it calls God a liar.” Today, I just want to go on record as saying I believe in a place called Heaven!
We live in a world that does not offer a child of God much hope or encouragement. With all the sin, and ungodliness abounding everywhere, it is easy to become discouraged, disillusioned and disappointed. That is why we must remember where we are going.
An American tourist visited the 19th century Polish rabbi, Hofetz Chaim He was astonished to see that the rabbi’s home was a simple room with a few books a table chair and a bed. The tourist asked, “Rabbi, where is your furniture? Where’s yours? Replied the rabbi. Mine? Asked the puzzled American. But I m a visitor here. I’m only passing through.” “So am I” said Hofetz Chaim. Allow me to remind you that this is not our home we are just passing through,
So for the next few moments I would like to preach on the thought of “Home Sweet Home”.
Main:
I) The Place called Home v3
A) Its A prepared Place
(, the dimensions of the new Jerusalem)
B) A populated place
C) A perpetual place - Ps145:13Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
D) A perfect place – But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. (A little girl was walking home one night with her dad and she looked up at the moon and the stars and asked, “Daddy, if the wrong side of heaven is so beautiful, what must the right side be like!)
II) The People at Home v3b
A) There are Redeemed People – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
B) There are Righteous People – And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
C) There are Rejoicing People – The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
III) The Path to Home vs4-6
A) It is an Obvious Path – Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
B) It is an Open Path - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
C) It is the Only Path – v6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Conclusion: A woman was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was givin three months to live. So, she preceded to set her final arrangements. She called her pastor and had him come over, she proceeded to tell him upon his arrival all the normal things, scripture, music, and she wanted to be buried with her favorite bible and so on. Finally, she came to the end and they said their goodbyes, but has the pastor was leaving she suddenly remembered something. She said “by the way I would also like to be buried with a fork in my right hand.” The pastor looked at her with a confused look and asked “a fork?” The woman kindly said, “Yes a fork because anytime I was at a dinner and the main meal was ended as our plates were being taken away, someone would always say keep your fork, the best is yet to come. So when people look at me and ask why the fork you can simply say, Keep your fork, the best is yet to come.”
I ask you today are you headed to home sweet home or is your home a place of fire and brimstone and Eternal torments. Sinner friend you can be headed up to be “forever with the Lord” just call on him and except what he did for you on Calvary and you too can be headed to home sweet
