Introduction

Personal Remarks
What you need today:

The promise of Jesus

After teaching - “Let’s go to the other side...”
Purpose - Gospel going forward in a Gentile 0region. And, to show the disciples His power.
Jesus knew what would happen - that he would take them right through a storm - but a promise - the other side.
Christy’s cancer didn’t take Jesus by surprise, and He has been faithful to take her to the “other side” of her storm. Because of faith, she’s in His presence.
Jesus will take you to the other side of this storm as well. Doesn’t mean the grief is going away or life will get easier - the other side for you might be a renewed confidence in a God who loves you and wants you to trust that He’s good.
Let’s go to the other side - today is painful, but it’s not the end of your story, and it’s certainly not the end of Christy’s story.

The presence of Jesus

Storm comes - so great that these experienced fishermen thought they were going to die.
BUT, Jesus sleeps. How? Peace. He holds everything in HIs hands. No worry. No fear. Nothing takes Him by surprise.
Wake Jesus, “Teacher do you not care that we are perishing?”
Jesus stands up and simply speaks to the sea - it immediately calms down.
You’ve asked “Do you care?” He’s with you. He’s moved heaven and earth to be with you through His death and resurrection. The cross proves that He cares.
He died and rose again so you could be brought into a relationship with Him and so that you could know He is present with you.

The power of Jesus

“Why are you so afraid?”
The disciples don’t high-five each other. They are more fearful after the storm than in the storm because they realize who’s in the boat with them!
If he can take away the storm, what else can He do?
He can give life. He holds life in His hands, and today, He wants you to find life - eternal life by believing that He is the One who died and rose again for you. By turning from your sins and giving Him your life.
Jesus endured the greatest storm - the cross - so you could know the calming assurance of His presence and love.
The One who calmed the storm has calmed Christy’s storm. She will never face a storm again. Someday, neither will you if you believe.
