Mark 1:14–15 ESV
14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Mark 1:14-15
Mark 1:21–27 ESV
21 And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching. 22 And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. 23 And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” 25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” 26 And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.”
Mark 1:21
Mark 1:32–34 ESV
32 That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
Mark 1:32
He cleanses a leper in Chapter 1:40-42
He heals a paralytic in Chapter 2
Makes a man who has a withered hand whole in Chapter 4
He calms a storm in Chapter 4
And what mark is getting at is we are living in a broken world. A world that has been crippled by sin, a world that is ruled by Satan… and this is because Everything was lost in Adam, and when Adam sinned, there was a curse upon this world. And When Jesus comes along, He begins his ministry by saying the time is fullfilled and the Kingdom of God is a hand. You see this is what the Kingdom of God does, it reverses the curse. The demonic realm is subject to the Kingdom of God, the earthly realm ( signified by the Storm that Jesus calms) The natural world is subject to the Kingdom of God Signified by the healing.
Now hear is the amazing thing, is that this rule, this authority can be evident in our life.
Matthew 28:18 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Matthew 28:
Luke 10:19 ESV
19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.
Luke
Living With Kingdom Authority
We get hung up on spiritual gifts sometimes. If we don’t watch out we can get envious of other peoples spiritual gifts because maybe they are excercised in a more public fashion. But it is important that each one of us understands this, no matter what gift we have been given for the edification of the body, we all have Kingdom authority. Don’t confuse Kingdom authority with spiritual gifts. The Spiritual gifts are the particular grace (that is where the worsd Charis gifts that we have been given for the edification of the Body
