Roles, Titles, and Fit
Leadership is not a stage
Impact is not a microphone
Purpose is not a title
Ferrari Pit Crew
22 Guys working together perfectly
Each guy had his own role
Some would say a MUNDANE role
In this video I want you to pay attention to the guy at the bottom right of your screen.
Watch Video
Did you catch one of the four guys?
His role - Pull the tire off (Thats it)
His Response to this assigned role
He approached his role like a world champion class athlete - the best of the best
The Catch?
No one will ever know his name on ESPN - No autographs or endorsement deals.
He’s dressed just like the other 21 pit crew guys
Red suit - red helmet - spy life!
The WIN (Whats Important Now)
He knows that hes’ doing his absolute best to play his role as well as he can
More importantly HIS team knows - His family knows
Your PART Matters
Summer Focus
Reflect on who you are
Who you want to become
And HOW your going to get there
Our Church
On who we are
Where we want to go
How we are going to get there
Space coming in 2020 (Do you believe)
Every one of you.
Every person involved in a local church has a part to play
The Tension
So many of you sit back and think “They got it”
We think people with titles or roles got it covered
I am not needed
I am not equipped
I am not good enough
I have no idea what I am doing
The Truth
You were created by God in HIS image.
Which means you were gifted with talents that can play a critical role in helping further God’s Kingdom.
Go back to the Ferrari pit crew
The WIN (Whats Important Now)
The tire guy knew he was giving all had to his role
His team knew it…His family knew it
Thats what matters most!
The Question
What roles are you playing in your life?
Are you playing it with the intense HUMILITY, COMMITMENT, and MASTERY as our tire friend was?
Pause - Refocus
Before we get too deep into the HOW of our roles in our lives and here at church lets back all the way back to the beginning and focus on THE WHY.
The pit crew guys - (Win the race - Thats the why)
Every second counts - dropped tire - lose
For us in our roles in our lives
Share the love that has been shared with us from God
To know that we are loved and to live that way!
Tonights Focus
Rediscovering your WHY
That YOUR part matters
For your personal life
For your role here at The Gathering
Remember
You were created by God in HIS image.
Which means you were gifted with talents that can play a critical role in helping further God’s Kingdom.
The Goal
In all that we do.
The goal is to simply seek attention from God while we serve others - not the other way around.
We did not serve 2nd Harvest for there sake
We did it for the kingdom
We did it so that we could create an environment where we could share and others could experience the Love of Jesus in a creative way.
(That is the purpose of The Gathering - of all we do!)
Listen to my talk two weeks ago on that exact subject
Sermon on the Mount
The Why and How on life
Jesus spoke to people about trying to get attention, even for “spiritual” things.
In , Jesus says, “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them.
If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
Jesus then speaks about giving to the poor, prayer, and fasting.
There were religious people during the time of Jesus who would announce when they would give to the poor, so that everyone would see them give (v.
2).
Or they would pray very loudly to make sure everyone could see how spiritual they were (v.
5).
And when they would fast, they would disfigure themselves, so that everyone would know they were fasting (v.
16).
Jesus told the people to give to the poor and not expect any recognition (vv.
