Paul is writing to the church in Colosse, a church that he had yet to visit, in order that he might encourage them to persevere in their new-found faith. The foundation for their perseverance is not found in their strength of will or determination, but rather it is rooted in their understanding of the mystery of Christ and the wisdom and knowledge of who He is. We encourage one another with the hope of Christ.
