It was painful but Necessary
It was painful but Necessary
gen 32:24
24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
24 So Jacob was left alone. Then a man wrestled with him until dawn.
25 When the man saw that he could not win against Jacob, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that it was dislocated as they wrestled.
26 Then the man said, “Let me go; it’s almost dawn.” But Jacob answered, “I won’t let you go until you bless me.”
27 So the man asked him, “What’s your name?” “Jacob,” he answered.
28 The man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob but Israel [He Struggles With God], because you have struggled with God and with men—and you have won.”
29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.” The man answered, “Why do you ask for my name?” Then he blessed Jacob there.
Why A Painful blessing Lord?
Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.
1. The Process Of The Anointing stage I

As Jacob went on his way, God’s angels met him. 2 When he saw them, Jacob said, “This is God’s camp!” He named that place Mahanaim [Two Camps].

Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Go back to the land of your ancestors and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

11 When he came to a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had gone down. He took one of the stones from that place, put it under his head, and lay down there.
12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway set up on the earth with its top reaching up to heaven. He saw the angels of God going up and coming down on it.
13 The Lord was standing above it, saying, “I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give the land on which you are lying to you and your descendants.

II. Discovering Your Identity!!!
You Are A Blessing and everyone benefits from your Gift...
27 And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake.
28 And he said, Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it.
29 And he said unto him, Thou knowest how I have served thee, and how thy cattle was with me.
30 For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the Lord hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also?
43 As a result, Jacob became very wealthy, with large flocks of sheep and goats, female and male servants, and many camels and donkeys.
Connections Are Necessary: Including what type of
leader your connected to
what types of friends your connected to
what type of mentor your connected to
what type of ministry your connected to
It becomes painful when your giving more than your getting.
When You recognize your worth you won’t tolerate imitation....
whatever team your own you all should be winning, if only a few are its probably because your on the wrong team or your cheating on the kingdom keys..
Laban recognized Jacobs worth and he capitalized on it..
The Process Of The Anointing Stage III.
III. How To Handle Your Haters
Learning How To Handle Haters
1 But Jacob soon learned that Laban’s sons were grumbling about him. “Jacob has robbed our father of everything!” they said. “He has gained all his wealth at our father’s expense.”
2 And Jacob began to notice a change in Laban’s attitude toward him.
3 Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your father and grandfather and to your relatives there, and I will be with you.”
4 So Jacob called Rachel and Leah out to the field where he was watching his flock.
5 He said to them, “I have noticed that your father’s attitude toward me has changed. But the God of my father has been with me.
6 You know how hard I have worked for your father,
7 but he has cheated me, changing my wages ten times. But God has not allowed him to do me any harm.
Gen 31:1-
14 Then Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, “Is there still any portion or inheritance for us in our father’s house?
15 Are we not considered strangers by him? For he has sold us, and also completely consumed our money.
16 For all these riches which God has taken from our father are really ours and our children’s; now then, whatever God has said to you, do it.”
David: Handled Himself Wisely
5 And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
This verse deals with how David handled the duties he had been given. We need to behave ourselves wisely in our work for the Lord.
Notice what that involves:
A. An Attitude of Readiness
David went out whithersoever Saul sent him. David was a young man who had already enjoyed much success in the Lord. At this stage in his life he had been anointed king by the prophet Samuel. He had already stood before the giant Goliath and emerged victorious. It would have been easy to have grown complacent and arrogant after such success.
readiness 1 the state of being fully prepared for something: willingness to do something: . 3 immediacy, quickness, or promptness:
B. Integrity: 1 the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness:
1 Sam
14 And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the Lord was with him.
At this point in his life David behaved wisely in all his ways. His life wasn’t hypocritical, behaving one way in public and another in private. Every area of David’s life was handled with discretion and integrity. He carried himself wisely among all who knew him and in every situation, a man of integrity.
(14b) – And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. The Lord was with him. He did not walk alone. He lived a life that honored God and the Lord honored David with His presence.
C. Influence: the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself
(15 verse) Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
Saul was the king of Israel and David was but a youth and yet Saul feared David. It wasn’t because of his stature or physical ability. It wasn’t because he had defeated Goliath. Saul feared David because he behaved himself wisely in all his ways. Saul knew that David was different. He knew that God’s hand was upon David. This young man influenced the life of a king.
Stage IV The Process Of The Anointing
Saul was the king of Israel and David was but a youth and yet Saul feared David. It wasn’t because of his stature or physical ability. It wasn’t because he had defeated goliath. Saul feared David because he behaved himself wisely in all his ways. Saul knew that David was different. He knew that God’s hand was upon David. This young man influenced the life of a king.
Pulling From The Problem is often more natural than spiritual.
BUT IT REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE THE GIFT OF DISCERNING OF SPIRTS TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
I. Generational
a. Parents:
Issac: favored the other brother because he had game.
Rebecca: favored Jacob and taught him how to be deceitful and crafty with his father
b. Siblings:
Essau settled for anything and didn't place value on what God had for him (Birth Rights and Blessings) People think because they came first they got next. Not True!!! check the script..
15 God said to Moses, “I will show kindness to anyone to whom I want to show kindness, and I will show mercy to anyone to whom I want to show mercy.”
c. Family members:
c. Family members: His uncle took advantage of him and capitalized on his gift.
His uncle took advantage of him and capitalized on his gift.
d. His Wives:
Fought for his acceptance and dragged other women in the relationship to have an upper hand.
II. Confrontational
Jacob had to confront his unresolved issues with his present (Laban) and then had to confront unresolved issue of his past (Essau) to catapult him into his future.
III. Traditional
Jacob had to overcome his past methods of
trickery:
supplanting: to supersede by force or treachery
Scheming:
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
God had to change his name in pain..
