Jesus was human
Fear will make you say stupid things
“I will punch you in the face”
Focused on their circumstances not on Jesus because:

They had technical abilities and realized they couldn’t do it
Listen to me this morning, God puts us in places that seem impossible and their are outside of our dependance on God.
5 Reasons things happen in our lives:

Satan

A combination
Only time we read about Jesus sleeping is during a storm?
This was not the time for white-knuckled discipleship or belief: “I am just going to bear down and row harder!”
This breeds contempt against God b/c you can’t get through the storm alone
This breeds self-reliance not utter dependance
How has God let you down?
After my father died
God I can’t take anymore!
After my mother died?
God I can’t take anymore!
After my grandmother died?
God I can’t take anymore!
After my grandfather died?

ps 107:
And then...
The antithesis of faith is not lack of knowledge, it is fear and doubt.
The real question for the disciples then and for us now is “will their fear lead them to trust in Jesus?”
Back to dunker training: I eventually developed more faith in my equipment than I had fear of drowning, this lead to the appropriate action.
In Mark, whenever the person and work of Jesus are highlighted, so is discipleship.
The revelation of who Jesus is not in isolation but requires a response.
So my question to you this morning is “What are you going to do with this?” or “What are you so focused on in fear and worry that you are forgetting to look to Jesus?”
We do not judge His care for us based on our circumstances: richer is not better and poor worse, healthy is not better and sick worse, happy is not better and sad worse: With Christ is better and alone is worse!
