The last Christmas broadcast of the late King George VI seemed to indicate that he had an inclination of his own impending death. Life for him had become so uncertain. He ended his last Christmas broadcast with these memorable words:
"I said to the man who stood at the gate of the Year, "Give me a light that I may tread safely inot the unknown." And he replied: "Go into the darkness and put thine hand into the hand of God; that shall be to you better than a light and safer than a known way."
