Embrace the New
Embrace the New
Hello! I”m honored to be here today! And just because once i get going i may not have the frame of mind to mention this, but id love to meet you after our time here together is finished!
19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
OK, i’m super excited about this topic, because I’m all up in the changes! Like this is real life for me!
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
New is here!
The New International Version Chapter 43
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians
The word “new” means something different , that isn’t the same thing as what has been, fresh, unfamiliar, its change.
God designed everything for change, the plants of the earth, the animals, and guess what… us!
The major stages of the flower life cycle are the seed, germination, growth, reproduction, pollination, and seed spreading stages.
Nature is constantly changing and so are we. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we are all getting older, all of us.
Nature is constantly changing and so are we. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we are all getting older, all of us.
I just turned 32 in April, and let me tell you… things have changed! things I remember my mom talking about with her friends, I am now talking about with my friends!
James, my husband, and I were saying a while back that we are now our parents! I have memories of my mom being in her 30’s! My hands… look like my mothers! which is so weird, granted I’ve always loved my moms hands for some reason.
Change is inevitable, and honestly just when you think you’ve got something under control and in a comfortable state, life changes…
Even with parenting! I think I’ve figured out the stage and then they move on to the next thing.
your baby starts teething just as you were getting them sleep trained, you finally finish your last home project just in time for the Lord to tell you to sell your house and move, your killing it in your job and have it all lined up to kill this quarter and you hear about a position that peaks your interest.
Reminder, change isn’t bad! Change is Gods design!

2. Watch out!
The New International Version Chapter 43
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
“Springs up” doesn’t evoke the thought “are you ready? Ready? its coming… prepare yourself” it evokes the image of a jack in the box. Like, your all minding your business and boom! Something springs up!
But the word “spring” is an interesting choice of word, and the fact that its in pretty much every translation makes it seem special to me.
Spring: to make a leap; to stretch out in height; rapid or suddenly
What do these definitions bring to mind?
Leap of faith, we have to be stretched to reach new heights, and God can move in the suddenly but He’s not in a hurry.
But then it adds, “Do you not perceive it?” which would imply that we should’ve seen the signs of something coming…
like when your driving down the road and there is a sign for “this lane ending” and unless you perceive the sign when the lane ends your going to to really upset the driver in the lane next to you.
He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Signs of the times is talking about more than the culture, its talking about all that is happening around us! The spiritual Realm.
The shepherd calls out to the sheep, and those who know him and are listening to heed his commands and follow where He leads them!
How many times has the Lord dropped something in your spirit, which basically just means, your praying, or honestly… doing laundry or dishes, or driving in your car and you get a thought that seems a little random… like “what if the Lord asked me to pack up my things and move across the country...” and then you get home to find your husband home early with great news… he got a promotion but its going to take you out of state so in order to make it work, the whole family is going to have to pack up and move.
Coincidence? I think not. That was from the Lord!
We have a choice to be close to God, to study His Word, to take every thought captive and even to heed the Holy Spirit when he sends a little message to you to stop and pray through what He’s speaking to you in that moment.
And then in situations like that we don’t have to be blindsided… we can get the inside scoop before it happens! sometimes theres not a ton of warning, but when there is… lets rejoice!
the only way we can know the signs of the times, and the voice of our shepherd is to be near Him. Reading His word, studying His word, worshipping and praising His name, getting in His presence!
3. God will Provide
“I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
This is the story, the account, of when the Israelites had been released out of slavery from Egypt into Moses’ care. They are traveling from Egypt to “the promise land” ie. Canaan.
and what I found so interesting is that it shouldn’t have taken 40 years. they werent wondering around the dessert. they had set up shop in the dessert of Sinai below a mountain.
Here is the interesting thing to me. I read that it should’ve only taken the Israelites 10-11 days to get to the Promise Land, but because they consistently disobeyed God and totally disregarded his commands they had to spend 40 years in the wilderness! Likely because they had been in Egypt for so long that they had lost their connection with the True God and had adopted many of the Egyptians beliefs and customs.
But of course, even though the Israelites were just the most problematic, God still provided for them!
Manna. Miraculous food the Lord provided for the Israelites in the desert. It originally appeared in the form of thin flakes, like frost on the ground, around the Israelite camp (, ).
The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.
The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was settled; they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan.
The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.
Exodus
During this time in the wilderness, the Lord provided so much for His people. This is when the Arc of the Convenient was made! Instructions on how to function as a society and be in communication with Him, the Ten commandments. So much was set into place even in the transitional phase.
Which really, Transition is at the Heart of change. If we can have the perspective that God is in control of everything and we just have to Hear God, Believe what He says, and then Obey His word. We can embrace any change.

There the Lord will be our Mighty One.
It will be like a place of broad rivers and streams.
No galley with oars will ride them,
no mighty ship will sail them.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
I want take a few minutes to stop and hear from the Lord. Everyone of us is in some kind of change or transition. God wants to speak into what, when, where, how, who, He has a divine plan for your season of life.
It could be that you actually need a change, that your not even aware of, either with your relationship with Him or with someone in your life.
If you feel like your needing change, but it’s not happening the way you thought it would, ask God if there is something you missed and need ot go back and finish before trying to move on. If you feel like you need change and there is no change happening at all, ask God to give you clarity on the last thing He told you about the situation and how you can move forward, it could be that you still in the transitional point. We all have a promise land, we all have things the Lord has called us to, or planned for us, but some times it takes a longer time to get to the destination for that season than what we are prepared for, and sometimes thats so God can reconsecrate us to His purpose or deal with something in our lives.
Talk freely with the Lord. Thankfully we have the gift of Jesus as our Savior, and let me tell you, if you start studying the old testament especially those first books, you will have a renewed gratefulness for Jesus.
So take the next 12ish minutes and press into the Lord. He wants to meet with you. His word says if you seek you will find!
