Introduction to Apologetics
Introduction to Apologetics
Apologetics will be defined as the systematic, Biblical, and logical defenses of justly held beliefs and convictions.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
When God said that Christians are a peculiar people, He was not saying that they are weird or strange.
The implication is that Christians are to be “delightfully different” from a lost carnal world.
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Some Christians study their Bible earnestly while others do not.

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Who said “Be a light unto yourself; betake yourselves to no other refuge. Hold fast to the truth. Look not for refuge to anyone else besides yourselves.”
Some Christians pray earnestly about their convictions while others do not.

If the Holy Spirit is going to lead us at all, He will do it in conjunction with the Word of God and never contrary to it.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Some Christians earnestly receive the preaching of the Word of God with an open heart while others do not.

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
There will be those that study earnestly and pray sincerely, but simply draw a different conclusion about some issues.

10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
2 corinth 13:5
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
The evidence of a Chastened Life
The evidence of a Chastened Life
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Punishment reflects a penalty which attempts to satisfy justice.
Chastisement is a penalty motivated by love rather than justice. Its goals are the spiritual rehabilitation and restoration of the believer.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
