Over 4 in 10 evangelicals believe it is a sin not to tithe, but relatively few actually do tithe.
The average American minister has held a paid job in the ministry for 19 years.
The average American pastor has been the senior pastor of his or her current church for 7.7 years.
More than 22% of Americans say they never go to church. In ’04, that number was 17%.
