Matthew knew how much it would cost to follow Jesus. However he did not hesitate for as moment. When Matthew left his tax collecting he became unemployed, and there was no turning back.

Two changes happened to Matthew when he decided to follow Jesus:

1.      Jesus gave him a New Life. 2

2.      Jesus gave Matthew a new purpose in life.

** Each one of us is a work in progress in the hands of God.

Prop: You must realize God wants us to be His servants.

·         This morning let’s look at 4 principles for all God’s children.

I.                   Christ calls and supplies our needs Mt 9:3-39

·         If God calls you into His service, He will supply your needs.

·         The will of God does not send you where the grace of God cannot keep you.

II.             Christ does not promise an easy life

·         It is a wonderful privilege to be a Christian

·         You are an ambassador of Jesus Christ

·         Sometimes there is a price to pay.

·         We are sheep among wolves (v. 16)

·         Our hope is to look to the Shepherd for protection.

·         Find a balance in life and accomplish God’s work.

·         Our commitment to God may separate friends and loved ones.(Mt. 10:34-36)

·         Some will follow God; and others will not. Some have quit in the past.

·         Mt 10:37-39 - As a Christian, we may have different values; different morals; different goals; and a common purpose.

·         This will set us apart from others.

III.             Christ wants us to give freely to others

·         Apostles had power to do miracles

·         But giving a cup of cold water is service to the Lord (Mt 10:42).

·         Everything we have is a gift from God

·         The greatest blessing is sharing with others.

·         John 3: 27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

IV.           Christ can take away all fear.

·         If you fear God, you need fear nothing else (vv. 27–31).

·         You are precious to your Father, and He will care for you.

·         God’s servants are eternal until their work is done.

How does this apply to us this morning?

1.      Jesus accepted people for who they were.

2.      God had has given you Eternal life, and God has given you skills, use your life for God.

3.      Matthew opened his house and brought others to Christ

4.      We are disciples of Jesus Christ! And God wants to use us!
