Get Ready to be used by God

Let me start off by asking, How many of you hear talk to at least 5 people in a day? Raise your hands, what about at least 2 people? Now if there is a big sale most of you would tell everyone you know. If you hunt you would share some of your hunting stories, if you are hanging out or visiting with your friends, you would share some past experiences. But hardly any body shares their own personal salvation experience, because for some reason we are afraid.

Many Christians are intimidated by the idea of witnessing because they don’t know what sharing their faith really means.

Witnessing is simply a matter of telling your story about who you love and what he’s done for you.

So today I want to share with you three things you should know before you share your FAITH

     Before we get started I want to share with you my fears with witnessing;

1.  I’m scared to death of knocking on doors. Once I’m in I’ll talk forever.

2.  What am I going to find behind the door?

3.  Are they nice or mean?

4.  I hope I remember what to say.

5.  Do they know more than me?

I hope I have hit some of the same fears you have. So Turn with me in your Bibles to:

Matthew 28:19-20

18And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

PRAY

Go therefore should read “As we go”. Jesus had already by this time told His disciples that He was sending them out into the world. And to teach others what a Christ has taught us.

Christ teaches the doctrine of the Trinity—one name yet three names. The three persons are each equally and fully God. The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit.

Christ also speaks of teaching them (us) to observe all things, How can people profess Christ while rejecting His teaching, creation, the flood etc.

And He ends on a promise “I am with you always” Even though Christ is in Heaven; He is present in every believer.

So if He is present in all of us, what do we need to know to share your faith with others?

|  | Know what you believe. One reason we’re sometimes reluctant to witness is that we don’t feel completely confident in our knowledge of the basics of our beliefs.*

Joshua 18-98 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”   Illustration: May suggests and quotes the Apostle’s Creed as a way to understand the basics of the Christian faith. *

We need to get back to the basics, we need to learn the Apostles Creed, which states basically, Christ was born by the power of the Holy Spirit to a virgin, Christ suffered and died for our sins and rose on the 3rd day. Now that’s worth talking about, That’s worth sharing with others.  Illustration: May illustrates how to answer questions you don’t know the answer to by sharing his experience with the question of suffering.*

Be bold enough to say I do not know all the answers, but have enough faith to read the word daily, learn and grow closer to living God. Know your testimony. Some of the best advice I got as a new Christian was to develop my testimony—to put it together in an organized fashion and practice repeating it. *

  • Illustration: After giving an outline for an effective testimony, give your personal, three-minute testimony.
  • Your most powerful tool in sharing your faith with others is your personal testimony—what Christ has done in your life.

2 Timothy 2:1515   Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  Know that God will give you the chance to witness. * Illustration: May illustrates being in a perpetual state of readiness through the story of a missionary in dangerous lands who always had his bag packed by his door.

When I was learning how to wrestle, One thing they always taught me was to never go to a show with out boots. In other words always have your bags packed and ready because even if you are there to just watch you never know when you will be asked to work.  When you are doing Gods work, you never know when you will have a chance to share your testimony. So be ready to be used by GodEphesians 4:1212 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, Conclusion: * Sharing your faith is simply telling your story about who love and what he’s done for you.

  • People don’t want to be preached at, they don’t want to be condemned, they don’t want to be on the receiving end of a polished Gospel sales presentation—but they do want hope.

Psalm 199:9999 I have more understanding than all my teachers, For your testimonies are my meditation.99     . 99     IIIf Christ is in your heart, You can’t keep all that Glory inside, We at beaver Creek and as Christians need to be telling everyone we meet about what Christ has done for you. As a matter of fact if anyone here today would like to stand and Tell us what God has done done for you, or give a testimony, Here is a opportunity. |

Hebrews 13:15

15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. 16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
