The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:5-13

I. Directives as to the attitude of prayer. Vs.5-8

A. Not a show or performance. Vs5

B. deeply personal. Vs6

1. Either between God & the believer.

2. Between God & the “Body”

C. Not a form or method. Vs.7

1. Leads to dry spiritless prayer.

2. Words with no real meaning.

D. Words from the heart. Vs.8

II. Directives as to the general content of prayer. Vs.9-13

A. Praying in the will of God. Vs.10

1. We do not change the mind of God.

2. We are obligated to pray for everything with the insight of God.

3. We are to seek through prayer that which enhances His kingdom, and not our personal comfort.

B. Praying for the daily necessities in simplicity. Vs.11

C. Praying always for and in a spirit of forgiveness.
