The Gospels
++Record the Life of Christ
++Each from a different vantage point

To understand Jesus in the Gospel take a look at the prophet Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 1:10 KJV 1900
10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

Jesus validated the words of the prophet.

Luke 24:44 KJV 1900
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

Why did the crowds follow Jesus?

John 10:25–26 KJV 1900
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Mark 10:1 NKJV
1 Then He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, and as He was accustomed, He taught them again.

When they came to Jesus

He
++Welcomed them

++He taught them
Exodus 18:19–20 KJV 1900
19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: 20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.
This was the work
++Teach the word of God
++Show the way of God
++Teach the work of God
++To teach

When they came to Jesus

It wasn’t for
++A miracle
++For healing
++For a sign

They had come to Jesus before

Not every service was
++A miracle service
++A healing service

But in every service Jesus taught them.

The Word of God
++Was the source of their miracle
Luke 5:5 KJV 1900
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
Luke 7:7 KJV 1900
7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
The Word of God
Was the source of their miracle
++Was the source of their healing
Psalm 107:20 KJV 1900
20 He sent his word, and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.
Psalm 119:130 KJV 1900
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; It giveth understanding unto the simple.
Let your word
++Illuminate
++Bring understanding
Mark 10:1 NKJV
1 Then He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, and as He was accustomed, He taught them again.
It is easy to think that Jesus walked in such power that everyone that came around him experience a miracle.
This statement tells us that it was more customary for him to simply teach them the word of God.
The real power
++was not in the man
John 14:12 KJV 1900
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
The real power
was not in the man
++was not in the ministry
Mark 16:17 KJV 1900
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
The real power
was not in the man
was not in the ministry
++is in the word.
John 1:14 KJV 1900
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Romans 1:16 KJV 1900
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 10:8 KJV 1900
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

All the Power you need

The one common attribute of Jesus Christ was that He was a teacher.
Those that came to Jesus
++Recognized their limitations
++Saw something they needed
++Had something to learn
John 16:12–13 KJV 1900
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
2 Timothy 2:2 KJV 1900
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
1 Corinthians 2:9–10 KJV 1900
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
