Intro

retell the story
show how BIG the problem is
I learned that sometims people don’t need a Scripture, they need to stop the bleeding.
We’ve learned to cover our problems when we’re in church. When the music stops. The tongues cease. The lights are off, there are enemies getting together and you have a bullseye on your forehead.
Practical applicational points:
Be Real: acknowledge your feelings. vs. 3a “And J. feared.”
fellas, you have them too.
Be Intentional: aim in the right direction vs. 3b “J. set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.”
Unify: get in agreement w somebody vs. 4 “so judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord;”
Switch: it’s ok not to know.
Your duality Realm 1: You live looking at issues Realm 2: I have a confidence.
Psalm 27:5 NKJV
5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.
He starts the fast because he doesn’t know what to do. But prayer and fasting invites God into the problem. Whatever God gets in, has to come out the way He intends.
5. Remember: there’s only 1 important thing to know
2 chron 20:12 “for we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
Transition: The points I just gave you are clearly in the text
put the outcome on Him. Now let’s see why TODAY we can stand on the premise and the promise of YESTERDAY. Warning: You won’t get the power of the text if you don’t look at both realms.
When trouble comes in this realm, it doesn’t mean He didn’t know about it in His!!!!!

Revelation

It’s good when you can get revelation of what to do next yourself. But I’m not by myself to say as long as somebody catches it.
Pt: He never would’ve heard from God if he hadn’t gotten in agreement with his community.
2 Chronicles 20:14–15 NKJV
14 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. 15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
2 chron 20:14,15
Jahaziel means “seen of God” If God wouldn’t have seen Jahaziel in the prayer meeting, I wonder if he would’ve spoken? Not sure if Jahaziel looked like he had the word of the Lord in his mouth.
app: Be careful who you walk towards and who you circumvent.
Transition: From the REVELATION J’s EXPECTATION is established

Expectation (Revelation)

2 Chronicles 20:15–17 NKJV
15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
In the Revelation is the instruction
2 chron 20:15-
2 types of Expectation
You’ll See the Opposition (natural realm)
You’ll see their Termination (supernatural realm)
You can’t stop what you see, but you can determine how you handle what you see
Illustration: Sheriff “pastor that was a good sermon. If it hadn’t been for when I was in court, I don’t know what I would’ve done.
App: Many people don’t have peace because they don’t have a promise.

Formation (Revelation - Expectation)

not the Beyonce formation
when you get in formation down here, heaven gets in formation up there.
Jeremiah 20:13 NKJV
13 Sing to the Lord! Praise the Lord! For He has delivered the life of the poor From the hand of evildoers.
Exodus 15:2 NKJV
2 The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.
Psalm 103:2–4 NKJV
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

Distraction (Revelation - Expectation - Formation)

2 Chronicles 20:22–23 NKJV
22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
2 chron 20:22
for those who are trusting God with their trouble, I pray confusion hit your enemies. they can’t figure out where the evidence is, can’t find the file, the boss they don’t like works to help you vs. against you
Transition: Praise not only beats down your enemies it brings your cash
Isaiah 63:7 The Message
7 I’ll make a list of God’s gracious dealings, all the things God has done that need praising, All the generous bounties of God, his great goodness to the family of Israel— Compassion lavished, love extravagant.

Collection

Declaration (Revelation - Expectation - Formation - Distraction )

2 Chronicles 20:21 NKJV
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.”
2 chron 20
“praising” written in Qal Active participle…you keep doing. don’t praise once.

Collection (Revelation - Expectation - Formation - Distraction - Declaration)

2 chron 20:
2 Chronicles 20:24–26 NKJV
24 So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. 25 When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much. 26 And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the Lord; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day.
would you want to get to this place?
The Valley of Berachah
trouble was leading them to their treasure
2 Chronicles 20:26 NKJV
26 And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the Lord; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day.
2 chron 20:
i want paper and peace
2 chron 20:29-30
2 Chronicles 20:29–30 (NKJV): 29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. 30 Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around.
