Charis
Charis
Charis is a word that was to describe Jesus by his followers.
Before Jesus charis was used to describe something beautiful, charming or pleasant.
Charis was used to describe and act of kindness or generosity.
Charis was to depict a person who has been given favor or someone who has been given a benefit for nothing.
The Acts of Jesus toward man was Charis “Grace.”
The Acts of Jesus toward man was Charis “Grace.”
When the disciples saw that Jesus forgave people when they did not deserve it, He healed people out of compassion, He taught with love, He defended the sinners, and He gave His life when He had done nothing wrong, they describe him as Charis.
Jesus was Grace in person!
1 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
King David gave us a Great example of Grace.
King David gave us a Great example of Grace.
II Samual 9
Davids History-He was anointed to be King, then He was attacked and chased by the current King Saul.
Once Saul died and David took over the throne, He extended Charis to Mephibosheth.
He gave Mephibosheth all that Saul owned, and He brought Mephibosheth to eat at the Kings Table.
Jesus was anointed King by God, He healed the sick, proclaimed good news, gave to the poor, and cast out demons.
Everything Jesus did was good.
He was crucified as a sacrifice for ALL mankind. Even the shoulders who nailed him to the Cross.
He was raised from the dead and seated as King.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4-
David placed Mephibosheth at the Kings table, God placed us right next to King on his throne.
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
This is FREEDOM!
We just celebrated independence day! Lets celebrate God setting us free!
