Does that sound like us when we come to gather together and give our praise to God? Does that sound like us as we gather with the saints, does that sound like us as we gather around the table and sing praises to GOD?
Psalm 122:1 NASB95
I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
All to often it seems to me that Joy seems to be as far from our hearts and attitudes as it can get. Sometimes it feels like to me that it is a drag to be here, that there is somewhere else we would rather be, that we are just sour because we had to take part of our day to come and go through the motions of worshipping God, lets just hurry up and get out of here, it’s just too much of a burden if we sing to many songs. we have to be stone faced and not get to excited show some emotion of any kind. To me that is sad. Because there are a lot of reasons to be joyful in in the midst of hard times. God is so good to us He is our shield our joy or hope, he has redeemed us saved us from our sins Why in the world would we not be joyous and express our joy through our faces attitudes, sing, our worship? THINK ABOUT YOUR LIFE THIS MORNING ARE YOU A JOYOUS PERSON, IF NOT THEN WHY NOT!
JOY is something that the Christian should have
it is a fruit of the spirit we are told to have it in abundance , our joy should be unspeakable , and Paul says twice that we should rejoice always ; Phil. 4:4
2 Corinthians 8:2 NASB95
that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality.
Joy isn’t like happiness which is based upon happenings or whether things are going well or not. No, joy remains even amidst the suffering. Joy is not happiness. Joy is an emotion that’s acquired by the anticipation, acquisition or even the expectation of something great or wonderful. It could be described as exhilaration, delight, sheer gladness, and can result from a great success or a very beautiful or wonderful experience or it can be experienced even in persecution.
what is joy?
Matthew 5:11–12 NASB95
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:11 NASB95
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Luke 6:22–23 NASB95
“Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. “Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.
Luke 6
Biblical JOY is not based on circumstances

I think that is why it so important to not forsake the assembling of the saints
Heb. 24:

and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
