ADVENT WREATH:

1st Sunday:  Lighting the 1st Purple candle.

Wreath:  A circle representing the continuous power of God.

Evergreen:  Representing eternal life.

Three Purple Candles:  Representing that Christ would come from the royal line of David

The light:  Representative of the light that came into the world

PRAYER

ADVENT WREATH:

2nd Sunday:  Lighting the 2nd Purple candle.

Another Purple candle:

1.   The first:  That Christ would come from the royal line of David.

2.   The second:  That Christ would come as the prince of peace.

We light one per week because Advent is a time of expectation.  Like God unfolded his plan one piece at a time until Christ came, we light the candles on at a time until Christmas.

PRAYER

ADVENT WREATH:

3rd Sunday:  Lighting the 3rd Purple candle.

Another Purple candle:

1.   The first:  That Christ would come from the royal line of David.

2.   The second:  That Christ would come as the prince of peace.

3.   The third:  That Christ is King of Kings

The flame of each new candle should remind us that something is happening, and something more is still to come.

PRAYER

ADVENT WREATH:

4th Sunday:  Lighting the Pink and White Candles

The Pink Candle:

1.   It is pink to remind us of the Joy that Jesus Christ brings.

2.   and to represent God’s love and faithfulness.

As we light more candles, we should notice that it gives more light – like Christ, the Light that came into the world.

The White Candle:

1.   It is white to represent Christ’s holiness, purity, and perfection.

2.   It is placed in the center to remind us to keep Christ at the center of the holiday season.

Let’s pray that we can keep Christ at the center of our celebration and that we can shine our light before others so they may do the same.

PRAYER
