FORWARD MOTION IN CHRIST

COLOSSIANS 2:6, 7

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

CHRISTIANITY IS LIKE RIDING A BICYCLE, WHEN YOU STOP IT YOU EITHER GET OFF, FALL OFF OR GO BACKWARDS.

I.                   OUR BEGINNING IN CHRISTIANITY

A.     BEGAN LIKE ZACCHEUS, WITH JOY  Luke 19:5,6 “And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

B.     BEGAN WITH A DETERMINATION TO STAND TRUE

C.     BEGAN WITH FORWARD PROGRESS IN MIND

II.                THE SACRIFICE OF ACCEPTING CHRIST

A.   STOPPED OUR OLD PRACTICES

B.   LAID ALL ON THE ALTAR FOR GOD

C.   MADE MANY COMMITMENTS

D.   ESTABLISHED A NEW WAY OF LIVING

III.             SOME REASONS FOR FALTERING IN OUR PROGRESS

A.   FAILURE TO PRAY

B.   FAILING TO KEEP OUR COMMITMENTS

C.   TAKING UP WHAT WE HAD LAID DOWN, SUCH AS

1.     OUR TEMPER

2.     ENVY AND HATRED

3.     GOSSIPING

4.     FAILING TO GIVE OUT OF LOVE

5.     MANY OTHER SINS

IV.            RESTORING THAT FORWARD MOTION

A.     REPENTANCE

B.     CONFESSION TO THE CHURCH  James 5:16

“Confess your faults one to another”

          C. UNLOADING WEIGHTS    Hebrews 12:1

               “Lay aside every weight and sin that does so easily beset us”

          D. MAKING ALL WRONGS RIGHT
