Response to Homosexuality
I'm a student pastor who learned to do some ministry to prostitutes, the homeless, and homosexuals in college. While in high school, one of my best friends struggled with homosexuality (we were in youth group together), and another friend and I were confided in about his struggle.
We ministered to him as we went through high school and college and as I began in ministry. I later moved away and then returned to the area. He eventually stopped fighting, but his parents were very appreciative of our love for him and our compassion.
While in seminary, I was looked at and judged as liberal when I tried to explain to other ministry students about loving homosexuals without condoning their lifestyle. Who among us, given the same struggles, could have assurance of overcoming them? Not one.
