Sermon Tone Analysis

Inroduction:

It is evident that Jude really wanted to write to the Church about their common salvation, but found it necessary to exhort them to contend for the faith.

Why?

Because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives.................. for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Like Jude, we see that it is necessary to exhort the Sunday Church School to contend or defend the faith.

As you already know, we live in a multiculturial soceity with many different religions.

Can you remember what is recorded by Matthew 16:13-20?

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man am?”

They begin to answer Him  “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”

Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered; " you are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Its important for the teacher to know the uniqueness of Jesus.

When the teachers enters the classroom there should not be any doubt in their minds about how unique Jesus is.

The uniqueness of Christianity is the person Jesus Christ and the distinctiveness of Christ is He is the God-Man.

In other words, He is a divine Human Being, someone unique in time and eternity.

In the Bible many facts points to the conclusion that Jesus is God and many others leads to the conclusion that He is truely human; at the same time, as we journey through the pages of the four Gospel accounts, we see only one Person.

Therefore, teacher, who is this man?

This man who calmed the sea, who fed five thousand men not counting women and children with two fish and five loafs of bread, this man walked on water, who performed many miracles throughout his life.

Who is this man?

Paul not only answers the question, but also let us know how unique He is.

In Philippians 2:1-5, he encourages the church to have the mind of Christ and in the rest of our text beginning at verse 6 he begin to show us just how unique Christ is.

The Deity of Christ.

(vs.6 --- who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,)

Jesus was here in eternity past.

John 1:1-2 states ; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 He was in the beginning with God.

In John 5:58 - Jesus said to the Pharisees;

“Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

b).Jesus Christ created the worlds.

John 1:3 says; All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Paul writes to the Colossians 1:15-17; He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

 For fby Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.

All things were created through Him and for Him.

And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

The Hebrew writer writes .......... through whom also He made the worlds;

2. The Humanity of Christ.

(vs.

7-; but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, /and/ coming in the likeness of men.

God became a human being.

(The Incarnation; The incarnation was the way in which Christ took on humanity.

The word means “in flesh,” and the method of the incarnation was the virgin birth.)

John writes in 1:14; And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Paul writes in 1Timothy 3:16; And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

     God was manifested in the flesh,

John writes in 1John 4:2; By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,

Also in 2John 7; 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ /as/ coming in the flesh.

This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
