“Unless we come to terms as a Christian community with the cultural arson that destroys individuals and homes, pastoral counseling, psychotherapy, and psychiatry will continue to be the fire department of churches.”  If we changed the metaphor to a medical one, we could say, “Until we clear the swamps of mosquitoes, we will continue to have epidemics of malaria.”
