The Consequences of Lust

This is more than a story about how a king beheaded a prophet.

It is a story about why a lost man could not discern the voice of God

It is a story about why a lost man went to hell.

It is where you can see the curtains pulled back and you can see the struggle for man's soul between God and satan.

It is an illustration of the verse that says this is the condemnation light is come into the World and men loved darkness rather than light.

It is where you can see the curtains pulled back and you can see the struggle for man's soul between God and satan.

It is to show you that in every spiritual struggle you are the only one that can cast the deciding vote.

Three main characters in this Story there is John the baptist. Herod and herodias

Let me show you what I am talking about

Who was John the baptist ? a prophet . the greatest man born of woman ? a preacher , he was referred to as the voice of one crying in the wilderness.

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Three main characters in this Story there is John the baptist. Herod and herodias

What was his message repentance righteousness and judgment to come

Now there is Herodias

This is what his message to him was

Lust define this Unlawful desire of carnal pleasure . in this context to covet sexally what is not yours

She represented lust in his life she represented pleasure forbidden sin.

Look at this Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

Lets watch this battle play out in the bible and lets see the consequences of allowing lust to control a person’s life.

Weather you are saved or you are lost lust leads to destruction it destroyed herod a lost man and would have destroyed the young man in the church at corinth a saved man deliver him to satan for the destruction of the flesh that the spirit may be saved.

He is the one that casts the deciding vote on whose voice would control his life the voice of God or the voice of his sin

Never forget in this great spiritual war we are in and we fight from day today God tries to influence you and the devil tries to influence you but you are the one that casts the deciding vote.

So what are those consequences what is the fine print on the contract a person agrees to with lust . Men or women it takes to to commit adultery. With her

Lust is what I want what makes me happy, I do not want to miss out

Drinking the same way not good for society not good for family is not good for the body of christ but good for you focused on self

I deserve it

Convenient so you concede you give in.

Sin works by convenience and concession but the holy spirit works by conviction and consecration

On a trip to Rome Herod traveled to his brothers kingdom and stayed with Philip And he fell in love with his wife herodias while staying with his own brother. They both left their spouses and for each other each other. But before Herodias would agree to go with herod she said you have to divorce your first wife. the daughter of Aretas, king of Arabia. He was not going to tell her but she got wind of it and did not tell Herod. She said she wanted to go to “Machaerus” to (Makerus) at the edge of his kingdom she escaped to Arabia and got her father worked up so they both raised up these armies and Herod's army was destroyed by his father inlaw and his brother philips army joined the king of arabia's army to destroy herod and the reason he lost was because of this affair and killing john the baptist that led to his downfall

But when you are addicted to herodias and you are going down that path you will stop at nothing to fulfill your lust

Herodias was King Agrippa's Sister. And he fell on hard time and had a great debt he could not pay so Herod started a town called tiberias and said I will take care of you you can run that town and we will be charitable and take care of you. Well he had to escape by sea from his creditors and went to Rome and through political connections he became a king over that whole region. Herodias got jealous when she saw that he had a greater dignity bestowed on him than her husband had; since, when he ran away, it was because he was not able to pay his debts; and now he was come back, it was because he was in a way of dignity, and of great good fortune.She was therefore grieved and much displeased at so great a mutation of his affairs; and chiefly when she saw him marching among the multitude with the usual ensigns of royal authority, she was not able to conceal how miserable she was, by reason of the envy she had towards him; but she excited her husband, and desired him that he would sail to Rome, to court honors equal to his;or she said that she could not bear to live any longer, while Agrippa, and do not thou bear this contempt, that a man who admired thy riches should be in greater honor than thyself, nor suffer his poverty to show itself able to purchase greater things than our abundance; nor do thou esteem it other than a shameful thing to be inferior to one who, the other day, lived upon thy charity. 4But let us go to Rome, and let us spare no pains nor expenses, either of silver or gold, since they cannot be kept for any better use than for the obtaining of a kingdom.” But for Herod, he opposed her request at this time, out of the love of ease, and having a suspicion of the trouble he should have at Rome; so he tried to instruct her better. But the more she saw him draw back, the more she pressed him to it, and desired him to leave no stone unturned in order to be king;and at last she left not off till she engaged him, whether he would or not, to be of her sentiments, because he could no otherwise avoid her importunity. So he got all things ready, after as sumptuous a manner as he was able, and spared for nothing, and went up to Rome, and took Herodias along with him

Agippa got wind of it and sent letters ahead told about herod's army and that he would take it by force and Caius took this as evidence he would revolt against his authority and took Herod's kingdom from him and gave it to agrippa along with all his money and banished him to gaul

Drinking the same way not good for society not good for family is not good for the body of christ but good for you focused on self

Convienat so you conceed you give in.

Hereupon Caius was angry at her, and sent her with Herod into banishment, and gave her estate to Agrippa. And thus did God punish Herodias for her envy at her brother, and Herod also for giving ear to the vain discourses of a woman.

The Lord will say why did you listen

you draw a line but lust gets you with half and than takes it all

Lust always takes more than your willing to give

It starts out incrementally were you will not give in you will not kill the preacher

and pretty soon you will sacrifice everything on it s alter up to the half of my kingdom

It makes you go further than you want to go

She seeks to control you

You know herod travled to his borthers kingdom anstayed with philip who was the one that named cesarea philip after the ceasar and himself he was actually the most decent one

But he was already marred to the daughter of Aretas, king of Arabia. During a trip to Rome, Antipas lodged with his brother, Herod, and fell in love with Herodias, his brother’s wife. They both left their spouses and for eachother each other. But before herodias would agree to go with herod she said you have to divorce your first wife. She heard about it but did not tell herod she herd about it and said she wanted to go to “Machaerus” at the edge of his kigdom she escabed to arabia and got her father worked up so they both raised up these armies and herods army was destroyed by his father inlaw and his brother philips army joined the king of arabias army to destroy herod and the reason he lost was because of this afair and that led to his downfall

Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

It cost him more than he was willing to pay

Pro_6:26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

But when you are addicted to herodias and you are going down that path you will stop at nothing to fufill your lust

That is exactly what happened to herod

Up to the half of the kigdom but it will cost you the whole kingdom

How much of your wealth does lust have ?

How many hours of productivity has it stolen

There are in that place royal palaces, with sumptuous apartments, every emperor still endeavoring to outdo his predecessor’s magnificence; the place also affords warm baths, that spring out of the ground of their own accord, which are of advantage for the recovery of the health of those that make use of them; and, besides, they minister to men’s luxury also.Now Caius saluted Herod, for he first met with him, and then looked upon the letters which Agrippa had sent him, and which were written in order to accuse Herod; wherein he accused him, that he had been in confederacy with Sejanus against Tiberius’s and that he was now confederate with Artabanus, the king of Parthia, in opposition to the government of Caius;1as a demonstration of which he alleged, that he had armor sufficient for seventy thousand men ready in his armory. Caius was moved at this information, and asked Herod whether what was said about the armor was true; when he confessed there was such armor there, for he could not deny the same, the truth of it being too notorious, Caius took that to be a sufficient proof of the accusation, that he intended to revolt. Lust is not content to ruin spiritually

That is exactly what happened to herod

It is not content to get everything you have

Lust wants to wrap its tentacles around you and wreck your soul

How much of your wealth does lust have ?

Change who you are into a monster of iniquity were you will do things you never thought possible but it happened slowly it taught you how to justify small things which taught you how to justify huge things.

The same lust that justified putting the preacher in prison was made to justify taking his head off.
