Jonah’s Anger with the Lord
Backstory
Jonah spit up from the great fish
God tells Jonah again to go to Nineveh and preach repentance
Jonah obeys this time
Nineveh repents and fears the Lord
Jonah 4:1-
What is Jonah angry with?
God’s mercy toward others
How crazy is this?
Jonah is upset because God extended a hand of mercy
He even asks for death because he doesn’t want these people saved
Jonah forgot the mercies the Lord poured out on him
Remember What God has Done for You
The people of God are called to remember
prone to forget
Christians have a greater thing to remember
THIS IS THE GOSPEL
Christ came and saved us when we didn’t want Him
This is what we need to remember
How lost and depraved we are
How desperate we are for a Savior
How Christ came and died for us, taking our punishment
That lost people around us need the Gospel to be changed
This is why we take Communion
1 Corinthians 11:24-
This calls us to remember the goodness and mercy of God and our need to share the Gospel with those around them
If sinners truly knew God they wouldn’t do the things they do
Luke 23:
Remember the cross when you share the Gospel
They don’t know Him and need Him
Look at how much Paul is moved even though he is beaten and rejected by his own people
I WANT THEM TO KNOW CHRIST!!
