He has traveled a long ways to get here, so please welcome Azariah!
Azariah walks in.
Host and Azariah shake hands, exchange excitement in being on the show.
Host: It’s so good to have you on the show.
Azariah: Let me tell you something, I have been trying to get on this show for a long time. I’ve got this incredible story that I’ve been dying to share.
Host: Why?
Azariah: Man, this story just lit a fire in my soul, you know.
Host: That’s awesome! I can’t wait to hear it. Well before we get into your story, why don’t you share a little about who you are.
Azariah: Yeah, My name is Azariah and you wouldn’t know it by looking at me but, I’m a kinda a big deal. Well I mean I used to be a big deal.
Host: What do you mean by that?
was royalty. I was a prince. I wasn’t just rich I was quite brilliant too! I had it all. But then one day something happened that would change my life forever.
Host: What did you go to campmeeting too?
Azariah: What’s a campmeeting?
Host: Oh, nevermind. What happened?
Azariah: The Babylonians came. They came and destroyed everything. They took all the gold and silver from the temple. And they took me and some of my best friends as prisoners. We traveled across the desert until we came to Babylon.
Host: Wow, how old were you at this time?
was just a little bit older than some of these guys and girls. It was so scary because we were alone. We were away from our family, most of our friends, and we were in a new and strange place.
Host: You were in a completely new world all by yourself. So why did they capture you? What kind of crazy things did they want you to do?
Azariah: Yeah a lot of crazy things happened. They gave us new names because I guess my name wasn’t good enough. They changed our identities and who we were. They gave us new jobs and made us eat different kinds of food. For a while things were going fine, until the king had a dream.
Host: What was so important about this dream?
Azariah: You ever have a dream that just felt like it meant something? Like I remember one time I dreamed of that I was a goat and I had this itch on my back and that I couldn’t reach. I tried everything, but no matter what I did, I could never reach that itch. I just know it means something. Kinda like that.
Host: Uh-huh...
Azariah: Anyway, the king was just so sure that his dream meant something so he called in all the dream experts to you know explain what the dream meant. But you wouldn’t believe it. No one knew what the dream meant! They couldn’t even tell the king what the dream was.
Host: What did the king do?
Azariah: The king become so furious and angry that he threatened to have all the dream experts killed! But don’t worry, that didn’t happen. I have this buddy of mine, his name is Danny, and he came and told the king what the dream meant.
Host: What was the dream and what did it mean? It must have been important.
Azariah: So, the king had this dream of a really tall man. He was made out of a bunch of different irons and metals.
Host: Like Iron man?
Azariah: What’s that?
Host: Nevermind.
Azariah: Well I guess so, he did have parts made out of iron. The king dreamed about this big metal man. But the crazy thing, is that Danny knew what the dream meant. I had absolutely no idea what that iron man guy in the dream was all about.
Azariah: Apparently, the dream was actually all the kings and countries that would rule the world after Babylon.
Host: I bet the king didn’t like that at all.
Azariah: Oh he hated it. He didn’t like it on bit. He was so furious that He had the same iron man built in real life. But he was bigger and all made out of gold, the metal that represented Babylon.
Host: Why did he have the iron man built?
Azariah: He wanted the whole world to know that Babylon would last forever. The king wanted everyone to believe that with all their heart. So he had all of us worship the iron man.
Host: Wait, worship it? Like how?
Azariah: The king ordered everyone to come to where the giant iron man was built and had a bunch of music makers there to play all kinds of beautiful sounds. We were told that when the music plays, we were to bow down and worship the statue or we would all be burned alive!
Host: Burned alive? Like on a barbeque pit?
Azariah: Bro, the biggest and hottest barbeque pit you have ever seen. So there we were, Me and my boys, Hananiah and Mishael. The music began to play and everyone started to bow down to this statue.
Host: What did you do when you saw everyone bowing down?
Azariah: Well before we even got to the place, we had decided we weren’t going to bow down and worship a metal man. Because we already had someone we worshipped. God.
Host: But what about the barbeque pit? Being burned alive?
Azariah: If you knew my God, you would know that He is worth dying for.
Host: Well I don’t see any scars on you, you must have bowed down to the iron man right?
Azariah: Nope. We didn’t bow down and we were thrown into the pit of fire because of it.
Host: But how are you here and not…you know…dead.
Azariah: You are not going to believe it, but the King threw us into the pit and it was really hot. But none of us were burned.
Host: How is that even possible!? Did you have an anti fire jacket or something?
Azariah: No we had something better. You know that God I was willing to die for? He showed up. He was there, standing right next to me. He protected me in the fire.
Host: I don’t believe it!
Azariah: You may not believe, but I know that it happened. God saved me because I stood up for him. If he did that for me, he will do that for you as well.
Host: If that’s true I want to have your God by my side. How can I get to know this God of yours?
Azariah: There’s two things you can do. You can always read your Bible and discover God for yourself and you can pray and ask God to reveal himself to you. Would you like to do that right now?
Host: I would love that.
