And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away.
Kingdom of Heaven: John, as forerunner to Christ, borne away by the violent Herod. Jesus, borne away by the violent Romans and Jews. They are hypocrites due to pride and envy, finding fault with both John and Jesus. But Jesus chides them, and warns them about the Day of Judgement.
Secondary meaning: the daily ascetical struggle to root out disordered passions from our hearts, the beginning of sin. Jesus teaches what is in the heart is worst. And also being courageous and maintaining faith in the face of violent threats to oneself. Neither John nor Jesus relented, but remained true to the truth, and were killed for it.
