A. The Spiritual gifts of healings
a. Lets talk about what gifts of healings are not
gifts of healings: supernatural healing manifested to someone through another
that is, the one receiving the gift isn’t getting the gift of healing but the gift to heal
1. Gifts of healings: not medical science

i. Some folks are naturally gifted in the areas of medicine & I praise God for that!
-Luke was a physician
14 Luke the beloved physician greets you, as does Demas.

*& he was, I assume, naturally gifted & through a great deal of study became very good at his trade
*During a great deal of the missionary journeys Luke went w/Paul
*I suspect Luke sewed Paul up after the various persecutions he endured

-but this is not the spiritual gift of healing
2. Gifts of healing: not receiving healing by faith
i. Healing by faith is a very scriptural way of receiving healing
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
its not healing through doctors who learned the trade
ii. Jesus regularly said, “your faith has healed you”
it’s supernatural healing recieved by the sick from another who has been given the gifts of healing by God’s Spirit
-But it’s still not the spiritual gifts of healings
-But it’s still not the spiritual gifts of healings
the other conduits of healing aren’t bad, their just not what we’re talking about here
b. Now what the gifts of healings are
gifts of healings: supernatural healing manifested to someone through another
that is, the one receiving the gift isn’t getting the gift of healing but the gift to heal

i. It’s supernatural healing recieved by the sick frm another who has been given a gift o healing by God’s Spirit

ii. The other conduits of healing aren’t bad, their just not what we’re talking about here

i. Notice it says “gifts of healings”
-I wonder if that’s because there r lots o kinds o sickness & brokenness that need healing
-Kenneth E. Hagin, in “The Holy Spirit & His Gifts Study Course” made mention that he & his peers have found that they tend to heal near 100% o folks with this / that sickness, but struggle 2 heal other things

B. Peter ministered with a gift of healing

i. truth is, healing isn’t even possible for us without Jesus’ sacrifice!

-some folks say it is…I’m not so sure
*Some places in bible say “Jesus healed every1”
*yet in Jesus sees a guy buy a healing pool & there only that 1 guy was healed (describe)

Paul bit by poisonous snake but miraculously suffered no harm

8 It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever and dysentery. And Paul visited him and prayed, and putting his hands on him, healed him.

a. Gift of healing can come through anointing with oil & prayer
14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
Jas 1:
a. Gift of healing can come through anointing with oil & prayer
infers, Jesus had the Spirit without measure. No other person has the Spirit without measure. However, it seems to me that infers that the entire Body of Christ has the same measure of the Spirit collectively as Jesus had individually.
