Before we start this message I think it important for you to get to know me.

My name is Blayne and my wife is Mellynn and i have two boys Taylor 27 and Chandler 25.

I love to ride my motorcycle and play golf and now I want to start camping a little.

I am a Lakers, Dolphins, Dodgers and Angles, Redsox’s fan.

I love the Lord God with all my heart and have been serving Him since Februrary of 1981 and been in the ministry for pretty much 31 years.

Some of you have asked others about me and why I am here and not pastoring right now! Well that answer is complicated, one is because I have been hurt by people in the church and the biggest reason is because the Lords wants me to take time away from being a senior pastor and to just come along Pastor Jerry and Toni.

We are going to continue to walk through Matthew and we are going to look at .

If I had to title the message it would be ASK, SEEK, KNOCK!

You need to ask seek and knock to hear from the Lord.

Let’s dig into this passage of scripture!

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him ca stone?

Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Matthew 7:7-14

Ask is to beg, call for, crave, desire, require!

Seek is to seek in order to fine, to seek after, seek for, aim at, strive after, to require, demand, to crave, demand something from someone!

Knock is to knock at the door!

The verbs are in the present tense, indicating continuous activity.

Jesus’ followers can keep on asking, keep on seeking, and keep on knocking, indicating the importance of persistent, consistent prayer in their lives.

Only through prayer can believers stay in contact with God, know what he wants them to do, and then have the strength to do God’s will in all areas of life.

God will answer believers who persistently ask, seek, and knock.

Jesus promised, “For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

It is not the Lords desire to hurt or dishonor His creation, we are the only ones of His creation made in His image!

If we ask we will receive, if you seek you will find and if you knock the door will be opened!

Now let us not confuse our selfish desires and greed with God’s will, His promise is that He will take care of our needs.

Matthew 7:

Why do we think that God doesn’t want to bless you and honor you with answered prayers, He is not is not a vindictive God!

Just because others in your past hurt you like this, it is not the Lords way!

As much as my mom wasn’t the best she wasn’t the worst either, she did her best to provide and meet our needs, there were times when she didn’t eat so we could.

She didn’t always have enough to give the extra’s but she did her best.

If our parents in the most part do their best how much more will our Father in heaven do for them who love and honor Him with their lives?

God is not selfish, begrudging, or stingy; his followers don’t have to beg or grovel when they come with their requests.

He is a loving Father who understands, cares, comforts, and willingly gives good things to those who ask him.

Matthew 7:12

How do you treat others?

Do you help and serve them?

Do you love them and honor them?

Do you look down upon them?

Do you speak evil toward them?

Do ignore their needs?

This verse ties it up pretty well when it says, do what you would like them to do to you!

There is a caveat to this as well don’t treat them bad because they treat you bad!
