He expected the church to be devoted to prayer.
He expected the church to be devoted to prayer.
Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
He himself was devoted to prayer
We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father,
To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power,
always in my prayers making request, if perhaps now at last by the will of God I may succeed in coming to you.
We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Paul was personally devoted to prayer but he also expected the church as a whole to be committed to prayer.
In most of his letters to the churches he called them to pray.
Brethren, pray for us.
Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;
not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,
rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned;
We are to be people devoted to prayer.
“The more praying the more rejoicing. Prayer gives a channel to the pent-up sorrows of the soul, they flow away, and in their stead streams of sacred delight pour into the heart. At the same time the more rejoicing the more praying; when the heart is in a quiet condition, and full of joy in the Lord, then also will it be sure to draw nigh unto the Lord in worship. Holy joy and prayer act and react upon each other.”
Charles Spurgeon
