Then all the tribes of Israel went to David at Hebron and told him, “We are your own flesh and blood. In the past, when Saul was our king, you were the one who really led the forces of Israel. And the Lord told you, ‘You will be the shepherd of my people Israel. You will be Israel’s leader.’ ”

· They affirm David’s calling. To be the shepherd of the people.
When we look back to our past sometimes, we think what could God do with my insignificant life? We forget…

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
God has a plan for you. Don’t doubt it. If you and I are ever going to learn to worship God have realize down deep that God has a purpose for me.

I. Realization

2 Samuel 5:12 NLT
And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel and had blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel and had blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

A. David was mighty because he was sure

A. David was mighty because he was sure

· God wants you to be sure about your purpose.

And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel and had blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel and had blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
God wants you to be sure. Not just about salvation but about life. He wants to confirm you. But you must keep moving. Doing the things you know he wants you to do. That means you have to take up the responsibility.
>>> God wants you to be sure. Not just about salvation but about life. He wants to confirm you. But you must keep moving. Doing the things you know he wants you to do. That means you have to take up the responsibility.

II. Responsibility

A. The fear factor

· When we speak of being responsible for something, we are afraid.
· Many of you are not teaching or helping in kids church because of fear or responsibility.
· What if I mess up? What if I teach the wrong thing?
· Nicole started when she was 18?19? She realized he purpose.
· Her and her team have led your children through the entire bible, led over 100 children to Christ and picked up a master’s degree in counseling on the way. (notice the masters degree is secondary. That will only last as long as she works here. What she and her team has done beyond that gray door last forever. AMEN!)
>>> Don’t let fear of responsibility sideline your purpose.

B. What is my responsibility?

· Here at A fresh wind we call it your everyday people. That just means the people around you that you can influence.
· It is funny if you are young you think I can’t influence these old people they thin I am stupid. If you are old you think I can’t influence these young people they think I am stupid.
· I like this verse.
1 Peter 5:1–4 NLT
And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example. And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.
· This is talking to Elders of the God’s church but Peter calls us all priest

· This is talking to Elders of the God’s church but Peter calls us all priest
· I think it applies to all of us when he says: 2 Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God
· We shepherd not by Lording over someone. Trying to shame them into right living or pestering them to death with advice.
· We lead them. Come this way.

C. He calls us to worship so we can accept responsibility.

· You think this is weird. But it is true. Worship leads us to embrace responsibility.
Isaiah 6:8 NLT
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
· He found himself in a worship service in heaven. He jumped in with both feet.
· He found himself in a worship service in heaven. He jumped in with both feet.
· When we worship and practice the presence of God we realize the who God is and we will take up responsibility in His name.
· We have the responsibility whether we accept it or not.
Romans 14:12–13 NLT
Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.
Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. 13 So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.
When we truly worship we come to the realization that God can and will use me and then we accept the responsibility for those around us. To be salt and light.
>>> When we truly worship we come to the realization that God can and will use me and then we accept the responsibility for those around us. To be salt and light.

III. Rally /Worship is the key / the heart of it all

A. We have to learn to be in God presence.

· We are so distracted.
· When God called Moses to the mountain of Sinai. The Hebrew actually says that God said climb the mountain and be on the mountain.
· Doesn’t seem that important. Jewish scholars on the other hand see great significance in it.
· How many times do we spend quality time with our kids when we catch them saying Dad dad dad…
· How many of you have look at your watch or are thinking about something else. You are at worship.
ILLUS: Dad picking his nose.
>>> You got up early. You have gotten the kids ready. You have fought with your spouse. You have parked 300 yards from the entrance. Got the jelly doughnut no one else wanted. Just so you could worship and hear from God. You made the sacrifice no make the most of God. BE HERE!

B. Not everyone is going to love you for it.

· David retrieved the Ark of the covenant from Aminadab. It had been in his care since It was brought back from the philistines in the first part of 1 Samuel.
· David was bringing it to Melchizadeks city. He knew this
The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
· He saw this all coming together and worshiped.
2 Samuel 6:14–15 NLT
And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment. So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns.

But as the Ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him.
· What happened? He embarrassed her.
· What happened? He embarrassed her.
· When you realize and then take responsibility and begin to practice the presence of god in your life. Not everyone is going to cheer you on.
· Your closest friends and family might try to discourage you.
· Look what he said…
2 Samuel 6:21–22a NLT
David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!”

He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. 22 Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes!
· Worship should never be dependent on others

ILLUS: Liberty, Lakeshore, new deacon, raising hands, God laughs…

C. Worship is the heart of it all.

· It restores us
· Let worship cheer you on
· Let it pick you up.
Psalm 16:11 NLT
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
(ESV) You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
· Be in the presence
· Be in the presence
Nehemiah said, “the Joy of the Lord is our strength!
· Don’t let anyone dissuade you.
· If you are worried about what others think about your worship, then others will impact your mission.

Summary: Realization that you are chosen and have a purpose and embracing the responsibility of that will change your life. That life cannot be sustained without worship. We need to practice the presence of God in our lives. To come to the mountain and Be on the mountain.

What would your life be like if you KNEW what you were doing was God’s mission for you? What would this church look like if we all embraced the responsibility to lead others? We can be those people if we can learn to worship, be in His presence!
