Hail to the King

1)     We give praise to entertainers in this world.

Not only entertainers but also sports figures.

a)     The get awards and we roll out the red carpet for them

b)     They get special privileges(Billy Crystal)

2)     We as a nation are worshiping these important figures

3)     If you ever went to an Elvis concert you know what I’m talking about.

a)     We worship the king of rock and roll

b)     We worship an actor or actress or a sports figure

4)     The event we celebrate today is the triumphal entry into Jerusalem

5)     Jesus came into Jerusalem not as a conquering warrior but as the king that brings salvation

a)     Gentle

b)     Meek not weak

6)     He comes riding a colt just as it was prophesied in zech 9:9

7)     Would Jesus be praised as he was so many years ago?

8)     In our world we worship power.

Beauty, perfection, money and status.

9)     Would we worship Jesus the way the crowd at Jerusalem did?

10) In today’s world Jesus is not a name that is praised but is used as profanity.

A name that offends people so it is not pc to say it.

11) Jesus offended the leaders of his time yet the people praised him openly

12) Today the world needs to hear the praises of Jesus

13) We need to sing, speak and demonstrate our praise for our savior.

14) If Jesus has touched our we need to give him praise

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV) \\ 1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her.

Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5 “Say to the Daughter of Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’

” 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.

7 They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them.

8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!” 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” 11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
