I) Admit
A) Rom. 3:23. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” No one is without sin.
1) Rom 3:10-12: “none is righteous, no not one; no one understands, no one seeks for God, all have turned aside…no one does good; not even one”
2) 10 commandments: lying, stealing, coveting, Jesus said – murder.
B) Good cannot outweigh the bad in court.
1) Rom. 3:20 “for by the works of the Law, no human will be justified in His sight.”
C) We must admit pure a simple – a sinner.
1) Gal 2:16 “we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ”
2) Why then, the law: to make us aware of sin.
II) Believe
A) Rom. 10:9-11 “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”
B) Believing not enough – James, even demons believe.
1) It’s a belief that leads to action like fleeing a burning building.
C) A confession of allegiance. To turn over lordship.
III) Confess
A) Jesus as Savior and Lord. Offer your life to Him. Surrender.
B) Savior: Romans 6:23. Life forfeited by sin – by handing it over, we admit that we have sinned and turn ourselves in. We recognize that no amount of good things we do will erase the past. Only God can forgive us – we give Him our lives, which we owe to Him as Creator. Then, by faith in Jesus, He gives us a new birth. Paul said (1 Cor. 2:20) “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me.”
1) Why do we keep trying? The only way to live the way our Creator wants is to let our Creator live through us!
IV) Lord: 2 Cor. 5:15. You can’t really believe without changing your mind to follow. Whether or not we believe shows by how we treat Jesus!
V) Jaunt 1: One Amazing Creator
A) Genesis 1:1-2:3. We learned:
1) Six Days of order and perfection
2) Shows His power, wisdom and care
3) If we understand we are created, we understand we have a purpose.
4) And we will treat others properly because we understand they are also created by God for a purpose.
B) Once we learned he is Creator, we learned He doesn’t stop there – He is also provider
VI) Jaunt 2: One Miraculous Provider
A) Several stories of how God miraculously provided for Elisha.
B) What may be most important: Jehovah Jireh first appears in Gen. 22:14. “The Lord will provide”.
1) Abraham told to sacrifice Isaac, but God provided the sacrifice – showing that He would give a sacrifice on our behalf. Abraham called the place “The Lord will provide” and the Jews had a tradition of saying “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
2) This happened on Mt. Moriah – the same hill Jesus was crucified on. He ultimately did provide on the mount!
C) He created us, He provides a way to find forgiveness of our sins – and that way is in Jesus Christ.
VII) Jaunt 3: One Powerful Healer
A) Jesus showed that He and the Father were one – that He was God in the flesh.
B) One story in Jaunt 3 – a paralyzed man – Jesus said, “Your sins are forgiven” because that was this man’s greatest need.
C) Saying this to the Jews was a claim to be God!
D) Then He showed his power by healing the man.
E) Jesus has healed our relationship with God by offering Himself on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.
F) Those who believe in Jesus will not die and go to hell! Since their sins are forgiven, they can be with God.
G) But Jesus did not stay dead!
VIII) Jaunt 4: One Living Savior
A) Jesus showed that He was God by His resurrection. He said that no one took His life, that he laid it down, and that He could take it up again – and this He did.
B) So those who believe, not only receive forgiveness of sins but now have the power of Jesus to overcome sin in this life and to tell others about Him! If your young person wants to share – let them.
IX) Jaunt 5: One Lord of All
A) On the cross, Jesus was called “King of the Jews” but He has shown that He is truly the Lord of all.
B) Our story – Peter given a vision to take the gospel to non-Jews. Thought unclean! But God showed that the gospel was for the whole world by sending Peter to gentiles to preach. They believed and received the Holy Spirit just like the Jews had – showing they were saved from their sins.
1) Not a new idea – that’s what He told Abraham in the beginning. The gospel was for everyone – even those who thought they were outsiders – sinners!
C) Maybe that’s you – you feel like something is keeping you out of church – out of God’s family. God’s plan of salvation was designed for YOU. No one is left out – whoever believes.
D) We also learned ABC’s.

II) What it means to us:
A) In much the same way, this can happen in the church where many (eternal) lives are at stake.
B) We must root sin out of the camp (1 Cor. 5) because we are one body (1 Cor. 12:26).
C) We should be accountable to one another for confession and prayer (James 5:16).
D) We must practice church discipline in the proper manner, when necessary (Matt. 18:15-17).
