Bible Memory Review

When missionary Geoffrey Bull was imprisoned by Chinese Communist, they took his Bible and subjected him to mental and psychological torture.  He later talked about the one thing that kept him from losing his mind.  Although Geoffrey had no Scriptures while he was in prison, he had studied the Bible all his life.  So he began to systematically review the Word in his mind.  It took him about six months to go all the way through the Bible mentally.  He started at Genesis and recalled each story and every incident as best he could, first concentrating on the content and then musing on certain points, always asking God in prayer to shine His light on his efforts.  Geoffrey continued through the Old Testament, reconstructing the books and chapters as best he could, and then he began on the New Testament right through to Revelation.  Then he started over again.  He later wrote, “The strength received through this meditation was, I believe, a vital factor in bringing me through, kept by the faith to the very end.”
