Intro:  recap power of atmosphere.  People carry atmospheres around their lives – happy, non-descript. , grumpy,  angry.  Atmosphere’s can be felt.

So what kind of atmosphere are we believing to build in OASIS?

Today:   Atmosphere of Corporate Worship

Isaiah 6:1-4  Angels,  seraphim – crying out Holy,  Holy,  Holy. The whole earth if filled with His glory!

v.4  Doorposts of heaven were shaken – how much power does it take to shake the doorposts of your house?  Heaven is shaken through the worship of the heavenly host.

Glimpse into Heaven:  What kind of atmosphere do we find in heaven?

Revelations 4:2-11  v.2 taken up in the spirit
Worship is all about spirit content in your life – John 4:23,24  worship in spirit and truth.

John sees the activity and feels the atmosphere around the throneroom -  white robes,  golden crowns,  a throne,  lightnings,  thunderings, voices,  lamps of fire

ATMOSPHERE PLUS PLUS!

Worshippers throwing down their crowns,  prostrate before the King of the Universe – crying out 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. “

How our earthly worship pales in comparison to this glimpse into heaven.

Wrong focus

Too many Christians focus on negative things  -  too loud,  drums,  too many different songs,  not enough hymns, didn’t like the way the worship leader did something!

Personal preferences is the wrong focus!

Quote pg 113 – resistance of new trends in worship – Issac watts

Not about style – every generation has a different style of music expression -  its about two requirements  - worship in spirit and truth.

Must enter the School of David

2 Samuel 16:12  -  David bringing the Ark into the city of God

·         David – God conscious / Michal – self conscious

·         David – liberated / Michal  - bound – bound to somekind of throne or authority – what is the fruit in your life of tell you about what kind of throne you have bound yourself to?

·         David – full body expression / Michal – bound,  Bible teaches lifting of hands to heaven,  shouting,  singing a new song inspired by the spirit,

·         David – full verbal expression – shouts of joy,  dancing before the Lord

OASIS – building a “presence people”

Moses

Ex 33:14-15
14
And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.”

A presence people characterised by 3 key things:

1.      A people who hunger and thirst for God’s presence

Divine desires of craving for the presence of God that has been aroused by the Holy Spirit within your life.

People who have experienced God’s presence and tasted true worship will hunger and thirst after it.  They know that “in His presence is fullness of joy”  [Ps. 16:11]

illustrate:  when your motives have been purified, your heart can only be satified in worship -  pg 117 Gate church

2.      A people who desire to hide and abide in the secret place

Ps. 91:1,4  -  O.T.  had to make your way through past outer court,  into the Holy place,  through the veil into the MOST HOLY PLACE – the secret place of God

Joshua son of nun – stayed and remained when everyone else had gone home.  He found the secret place!

3.      A people who taste the awe-inspiring presence of God

Born again you have a new man that has different taste buds – the H.S.’s life has been implanted into your inner man – as you mature your spiritual taste buds begin to change and you realise that your life can be radically changed from ‘glory to glory’ in the presence of God.

E.g.  doorway experience as a young Christian

Ps 34:8
8
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Changing Perspectives

Rev 5 – John the revelator – crying and weeping – no body could open the scrolls!

Angel comes to him and says “don’t cry John – there is one who can open the scroll – the lion of the tribe of Judah”

John is looking but he can only see the lamb of God – then begins to realise this is the Lion clothed as the lamb of God

Worship will take you into the realm of changing perspectives – as you go higher and pursue God,  you begin to see that the lamb is really the lion.

Devil made the mistake of crucifying the lamb – just a lamb!  But when he did he unleashed the LION of the TRIBE of Judah – who marched into hell and took back the keys to the devil’s house – devil does not even own the keys to his own house!

As you worship you release the LION of the TRIBE of JUDAH into your circumstances.

ALTAR CALL – I believe I can fly! [begin to play CD here]

Aussie trip – kids approaching AUSSIE   - see the coast out the window!  As we fly into Brisbane –

“dad are they little people here?  I can only see little cars,  little houses,  little people?”

Why?  First time perspective from a new vantage point – 1000’s of feet in the air!

As you climb the heights of becoming a “Presence person”, a worshipper, then your perspective begins to change!

“Little problems,  little obstacles, little devils,”

“Big God – building big people “
