The journey to walking in your God given name.

Boulevard and the construction of the septic system:

Beautiful place with a messed up system.

The truth of who we are is that beautiful place, but their is some major construction going on.

The purpose of this construction is to put a new system in to help process the crap around your identity that are lies.

More lies and suffering may be coming your way but with this new system in place you will still know your God given name louder then anything else in life.

Peter’s journey to find himself is one that I have been fascinated with for some time now.

This is how Simon became Peter:

Simon is a man who appears to know his craft of fishing.

He also appears to want approval and becoming a Rabbi’s disciple is just the thing.

Peter’s journey from Simon to Peter.

Simon gets picked. “I am a sinful man”()

Simon walks on water. “If you command me I will” ()

Simon is asked who is Jesus. “You are the Christ the Son of the living God.” ()

Simon is named Peter. (), ()

Peter is rebuked. “Get behind me Satin.” ()

Peter is asked do you want leave too, he says “Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” ()

Jesus tells Simon Satin has come for you... ()

Jesus tells Peter and others to buy a sword ()

Peter says he wont deny Jesus and he is ready to die for Jesus ()

Jesus tells Peter and others to buy a sword ()

Peter is ready to die defending Jesus by using that sword. ()

Jesus tells Peter “He who uses the sword dies by the sword.” ()

Jesus asks “Peter do you love me?” ()

Peter stands and boldly shares what Holy Spirit is doing and calls for repentance. ()

Peter raises Dorcas from the dead… ()

Jesus steps in helping Simon on his journey to becoming his true self Peter.

Jesus called Simon to follow him.

Asked him a question he could not no the answer too. When he leaning on Holy Spirit to reveal the truth he name Simon, Peter.

Jesus rebuked Peter when Peter fell into his old thoughts.

Jesus prayed for Peter and had faith he would turn and strengthen his brothers.

Jesus told Peter to buy a sword and then yelled at him for using it.

Jesus love and trusted Peter to take care of all His sheep even when Peter did not give Jesus what he assumed He wanted first.

Let’s look at Jesus prayer for Peter:

Luke 22:31–32 NASB95

31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Jesus is showing us what we can do here for each other on our journey to finding our identity in Christ.

Jesus is not in denial of Peter’s weaknesses here.

He has already named him Peter but in this verse he calls him is old name twice, ‘Simon, Simon....’.

Jesus was opening the door for Peter who was a prisoner to his old ways and false identity in Christ.

Peter’s old identity was he was not worthy and was a sinner so he did not want Jesus around.

Jesus called Peter by his new identity and showed him the way by laying His life down for others.

- Simon wanted to prove he would die for Jesus and needed Jesus to save him.

- Peter laid his life down willingly for others to be just like his Jesus.

- Simon wanted to prove he was not going to fail Jesus.

- Peter boldly spoke as if he knew the Truth because he did know Jesus was the truth that made him free.

All through this journey with Jesus and Peter:

- Jesus rewarded Peter overtime he lived from his real identity.

- Jesus purposely made it very uncomfortable when Simon operated out of his false identity.

Jesus finalizes this process when He asked Peter do you love me.

15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep. 18 “Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go.” 19 Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. Our Times Are in His Hand

Peter admitted fully that he was never going to be his true self with out Christ.

Peter died upside down on a cross finally living in his true identity in Christ. Strong in his faith and love for Christ.

- Simon wanted to prove he would die for Jesus and needed Jesus to save him.

- Peter laid his life down willingly for others to be just like his Jesus.

- Simon wanted to prove he was not going to fail Jesus.

- Peter boldly spoke as if he knew the Truth because he did know Jesus was the truth that made him free.

What does this look like today?

Opposite of Exhortation:

Have you ever been completely misunderstood but could not clarify even in your own head what you were intending?

Exhortation:

Has someone ever said what you were intending to do in a better way you even understood?

It is like your spirit is leaning that direction but the clarification of the intent brings confidence and excitement.

Exhortation is when your true intent and nature is called out and clarified by another person.

Exhortation is when someone sees your God given Name in you and calls that out.

Exhortation is when you see Christ in someone and call that out.

When someone acts outside their true self in Christ, call them who they truly are.

With strength and faith we prophecy the truth in the face of fear, doubt or unbelief.

We treat people by their true intent. This may include calling them out on actions that do not line up with their true nature.

I said your year has been bad since you made this choice to leave that person.

What is Father calling you?

Ask Father to highlight 2 people to you that you are going to Exhort.

If no one has offered to Exhort you, pray who you can ask to exhort you.

Activation:

I am an exhorter of Christ to the people in my life.

I will call out my true name and do away with the lies of who I am.

I will allow others to call out my true God given name and character.

I will call out the true intent and nature in others.

I will call out the true name Father has given to others.
