Introduction

This week we will be looking at who Jesues Christ is
So I ask you tonight who is Jesus to you?
Was he a good man
was he a profit
Jesues asks this question of his deciples in the book of Matthew
Matthew 16:15–16 KJV 1900
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matthew 16:15 ESV
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Matt 16:15-16
That is who Jesues is He is the Christ the son of the living God.
Throughout the gospels there are seven I am statments about Christ theese are :
I am the bread of Life
I am the light of the World
I am the door
I am the good Shepard
I am the reserection
I am the way
I am the Vine
So tonight we are going to see how Jesus Christ is the Door.
John 10:7–10 KJV 1900
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I. I am the door (V 7)
John 10:7 KJV 1900
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
What does the door Do?
It opens up to where we want to Go, it gives us acsess
it protects us.
THis is what Christ does. by His death on the cross we have acsess to God.
He protects us from what we deserve.
The sheepfold very comenly was a rock enclosure with an opening doorway
The sheparf would guard the sheep at night by laying across the opening
In the morning shepards would call there sheep and asmble their flocks
Jewsues says here “I tell you the truth I am the door of the sheep. The words verily means truly
Trully trully I am the door
Later in the week we will see Christ as the Shepard here he is the door which keeps us safe
Would you feal safe in your home if your home had no door?
obviously not Christ is what protects us and keeps us safe

II. All who came before (V. 8)

John 10:8 KJV 1900
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
We are told that all who came before were liers. They were theaves and robbers. This brings to the forefront the misleading of the previous generation of Isriel’s leaders who had bennd leading them astray.
The Shepards come through the door and the sheep reconize them
theives can not enter through the door so they must enter by climbing the wall
even if they got in the sheep would not follow they follow only the voice of there shepard.
false shepards can not lead they can only steal
this parible is refeing to the blind man in chapter 9
the religious leaders did not care for him but Christ did
they mistreated him but Jesues found him
Note the Religious leaders
The Religious leaders were most concerned about the rules.
in the OT there was a law that needed to be folowed but the religious leaders added to that law to have control
The true sheep listen to Jesues and do not listen to so called “religious leaders
There is religion then there is Christianity
Religion is something you do
Christianity is something done to you
Do you young person today have this relationship with Christ.
How can we apply the religious leaders falshood to todays context
Christ is the good shepard
Pastor’s are his undershepards
Every true Shepard must be called of God
pastors don’t apoint themselves
a true shepard will teach what is in the Bible and…
He will care for His sheep
young person if anyone ever tells you someting is in the Bible when it is not.
RUN…Run far away for that person is not a shepard he is a wolf
III. The resault of the door (V. 9-10)
John 10:9–10 KJV 1900
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Christ continues here giving the symbolisim again
I am the door
The theif will steal
Christ’s audience did not understand the symbolisim here so he repeats it twice to make sure they get it.
by door he is not just simply the entery point. He makes it posible for them to leave the fold and enter his flock
The “religious leaders” threw out the bagger Christ took him in to his fold.
we are the sheep we become one with our shepard (Jesues Christ)
Christ is the door of salvation those who believe enter his flock and fold and have the privilage of comming and going, finding pasture.
when you rember the shepard is the door this image becomes verry real
Christ is calling you today he is calling you out of the bondage of your sin and to salvation The religious leaders only cared about themselves
they were covetous
Luke 16:14 KJV 1900
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
They took advantage of the poor widows
Mark 12:40 KJV 1900
40 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
They turned the temple into a den of theives
Matthew 21:13 KJV 1900
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
But the true Shepard (Jesues Christ
Came to save sheep
Came to give life, and give it abundently
Do you have abundent life in Christ tonight?
Dont’t say I have all my life to take care of this I don’t need to wory about it tonight
Whatever we are doing after this can wait, noting is more importent that your salvation
you don’t know when your clock will hit zero are you ready tonight
