What Difference Does It Make?
What Difference Does It Make?
1 Peter 1:13-25
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
1.
The person who has experienced the wonderful salvation found in Jesus
Christ will . . .
L?Maintain a lose GRIP on this world and a tight GRIP on the world to come
FIX YOUR HOPE COMPLETELY ON THE GRACE TO BE BROUGHT TO AT THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST
We have seen this idea before in the first few verses. We have awonderful salvation and the culmination is in heaven protected by the power of God
There are two pieces of instruction that reinforce what Peter is saing here
One - Prepare your minds for action
Literally, gird up your minds
And two, keep sober
1 Peter 4:7 and 5:8
The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.
What did Jesus tell his disciples? Watch and pray.
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
L?Act like GOD'S children because they are GOD'S children
Children of obedience - a statement referring to those converted
See 1:2, 22
The negative - do not be conformed to the former lusts
Holy one who called you
Because i AM HOLY YOU SHALL BE HOLY
What is holiness?
L? THINK before they act because they are living in light of the FUTURE
How can we take lightly this wonderful salvation?
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
L?Be a part of filling the church with LOVE for others
Honesty, compassion, protection, acceptance
1. Does it CONFORM to the character of God?
2. Does it REFLECT the natural outcome?
3. Will it stand up to God’s SCRUTINY?
