THE STEWARDSHIP OF GOD’S GLORY 2nd CHRONICLES 7:1-4
THE STEWARDSHIP OF GOD’S GLORY 2nd CHRONICLES 7:1-4
As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.
And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord’s house.
When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the Lord.

THE REVIVAL TEXT
if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.
For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.
THIS REVIVAL TEXT IS BETWEEN TWO RESPONSES TO THE GLORY OF THE LORD (1-4) / (19-22)
STEWARD: One entrusted to care for and manage the valuables of another. A steward must expand
You Can Only Be and Effective Steward When:
1. You have been given something to have stewardship over
2. You Value What You Have Been Given
WE WANT TO EXPERIENCE GOD
WE WANT THE BLESSINGS OF GOD
WE WANT TO SEE ANSWERED PRAYER
BUT WE DON’T WANT TO BE STEWARDS OF HIS GLORY
STEWARDSHIP IS BEING ENTRUSTED WITH THE GLORY OF GOD - THEY SAW IT
When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
THEY SAW THE GLORY OF GOD BUT WHAT THEY DID WITH IT DETERMINED WHAT THEY WOULD EXPERIENCE NEXT FROM THE LORD
THE WRONG STEWARDSHIP - IDOLATRY
“But if you turn aside and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,
then I will pluck you up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, ‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’
2 chron
Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.’ ”
IF WE WANT TO SEE GOD MOVE IN OUR LIFE OR NOT IS BASED ON HOW WE STEWARD THE GLORY OF GOD WE HAVE SEEN AND HEARD.
THEY SAW THE GLORY OF GOD BUT WHAT THEY DID WITH IT DETERMINED WHAT THEY WOULD EXPERIENCE NEXT FROM THE LORD.
When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
2 CRHON 7 3
THEY SAW THE GLORY OF GOD BUT WHAT THEY DID WITH IT DETERMINED WHAT THEY WOULD EXPERIENCE NEXT FROM THE LORD.
IF YOU HAVE HEARD THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST WE HAVE SEEN AND HAVE BEEN ENTRUSTED WITH THE STEWARDSHIP OF THE GLORY OF GOD
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
WHEN WE HAVE HEARD THE GOSPEL PREACHED OUR SOULS HAVE BEFORE US THE PORTRAIT OF JESUS. IN THE GOSPEL OUR SOULS HAVE SEEN THE GLORY OF GOD THE PICTURE OF JESUS
Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.
Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—
GAL 3:
THEY SAW THE GLORY OF GOD BUT WHAT THEY DID WITH IT DETERMINED WHAT THEY WOULD EXPERIENCE NEXT FROM THE LORD.

III. THE PARTICIPATION IN THE CROSS (Verse 4)
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the Lord.
that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
PAUL SAYS SOMETHING ODD TO US
that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
ESVthat I may know him and the power
WHY? SUFFERING IS THE STEWARDSHIP THAT EXPANDS THE GLORY OF GOD
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,
if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel,
