Introduction:
Being judgmental is one of the hottest topics in the world today.
We live is a world that is desperately trying to dismiss God, reject the very laws of nature down to the core of our being. Answering to a higher power than one’s self is to be placed under the control of other.
This idea of complete freedom is so consuming that Americans are will the tear down the very fabric of our country to get out from under the rule of another.
The statement being made by the course of the world is there is no good or bad there’s just me. Which seems to work unto your freedom is taken by someone else's freedom.
At the same time that we scream for no law we also scream for justice and equality. But what is the measure of equality. What happens when our inalienable rights infringe on others inalienable rights.
Who are you to tell me what I can and can’t do?
The Church if viewed as intolerant, and unaccepting. If the church doesn’t affirm then we are assumed to condemn.
This doesn’t only happen outside the church but also inside the church body and between churches.
Outside the church, our observation of God’s law is mistaken for condemnation.
Inside the church our Christian liberties are mistaken as judgment on others.
So how do we get the world to see the condemnation of God has been transformed into the Love of Jesus?
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
John 3:
If God didn’t send Jesus into the world to condemn the world then for sure he didn’t send you to condemn but to save the condemned.
If God didn’t send Jesus into the world to condemn the world then for sure he didn’t send you to condemn but to save the condemned.
We must transform our observation of God’s law into a proclamation of God’s love and forgiveness.
We must transform our condemnation into God’s restoration through the cross.
1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Rom 8
Through the Spirit our judgment is transformed in to love and encouragement of others.
Through the Spirit our judgment is transformed in to love and encouragement of others.
When we transform our Judgment inside the Church it will transform our judgment outside the church.
When we transform our Judgment inside the Church it will transform our judgment outside the church.
1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.
Rom 14:
“Your opinions and traditions don’t equal God’s law or righteousness.”
“Your opinions and traditions don’t equal God’s law or righteousness.”
Passing judgment is to say my actions make me a better person than you.
We are all under the con
Matt
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: 8 “ ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 9 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
God doesn’t need your help judging his people.
God doesn’t need your help judging his people.
4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
God’s law is everlasting, unchanging, and just.
God’s law is everlasting, unchanging, and just.
God’s law is everlasting, unchanging, and just.
God’s law is everlasting, unchanging, and just.
The law of God has brought condemnation upon every single person for all have failed to keep the law.
Jesus Christ is our answer, yea our Savior from this condemnation for he has fulfilled the law and paid its penalty of death for every person on the planet to all those who receive him.
We are to live righteously by yielding to the transforming power of the Spirit in our lives as he manifest the righteousness of God in us.
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: 8 “ ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 9 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
The Law reveals the righteous judgment of God on a subject. if I reveal that judgment of God on a subject, it is not me that judges but God. If you have a problem with God’s judgment of a matter you will have to take it up with him.
An officer enforces the law but he doesn’t Judge. He doesn’t make laws he just enforces the laws that have been made.
If an officer pulls you over for not wearing a seatbelt and you say, “I don’t believe that should be a law.” You are talking to the wrong person. You can petition the law makers to have the law changed but the officer is just there to enforce. (Romans 13)
God’s people share different levels of faith and conscience.
God’s people share different levels of faith and conscience.
Outside the law of God there is much freedom for opinions on what is best for you and your walk with God which might be different from mine.
Should I drink or not drink?
Should I home school my kids or send them to public school?
Should I buy a big house or should I be a minimalist?
Should I celebrate this holiday or not?
Should I listen to secular music or only Christian music. And if I listen to only Christian what style should I listen to?
Should I use the internet?
God has no problem with your journey of faith. It’s your brothers and sisters that you have to worry about.
Everyone thinks that you should be where they are. “You should understand what I understand and practice what I practice.”
Your faith and your conscience go hand-in-hand.
Inside the law of God your conviction of conscience becomes the law by which you live.
Your convictions about something might not be the same for everyone around you and that’s O.K.
Who are you to pass judgement on the Servants of Christ?
Who are you to pass judgement on the Servants of Christ?
5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.
Rom 14:5
Christ will judge everyone, so you don’t have to.
Christ will judge everyone, so you don’t have to.
7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
No one will escape the judgment seat of Christ.
No one will escape the judgment seat of Christ.
10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” 12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Let Christ be Lord so you can show love.
Let Christ be Lord so you can show love.
You should never try and force people to do what you feel is right.
Respect goes a long way and speaks much louder. “You are a grown up. I will love you no matter what you choose.
Guard the Weak in Faith
Guard the Weak in Faith
13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean.
Rom 14:13
Your freedom takes a backseat to the faith of others.
Your freedom takes a backseat to the faith of others.
Nothing is unclean of itself.
Unclean is different for different people.
Meat doesn’t offend me at all. But to someone that used to sacrifice that meat to idols it is not good.
Examples: Casual drinking, Holidays, music, recreation, clothes, traditions, and superstitions
We are to protect those weaker in faith that are still growing in the Lord.
When your conscience is offended it is sin to you, but not to everyone.
15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.
Rom 14:15-
