STIR IT UP
Many times in the scriptures we are warned of the danger of becoming satisfied, and stagnate The preventative that God gives us is to keep ourselves stirred up.
(GW)
You received a gift from God when I placed my hands on you {to ordain you}. Now I’m reminding you to fan that gift into flames.
Sometimes You Have To Stir It Up, Get It Moving, Agitate Things Little Bit
Stir Up The Anointing, Stir Up Faith
We Need Some Good Holy Ghost Agitators
ILLUSTRATION
IN THE WINTER -- I LOVE A FIRE IN THE FIREPLACE -- Many times when the fire is about to go out, you can stir it up and find some hot coals or embers underneath the ashes, when the air comes across those embers they come alive again.
Stir = agitate, disturb,
SOMETIMES -- we become SO familiar with the Spirit of God -- that without paying attention -- we become hardened to the miracles of God!! We start looking at our own situations & don’t believe GOD can do or will do anything for us.
We become so accustomed to hearing the Word but we just listen and do nothing with it in our own lives -- we become cynical!! Almost making fun of people acting like their getting something from GOD!!!
THE BEST ILLUSTRATION OF THIS WAS SAMSON .....
(GW)
When Delilah realized that he had told her everything, she sent a message to the Philistine rulers, “Come here once more.” (She did this because Samson had told her everything.) So the Philistine rulers arrived with the money in their hands. Delilah put Samson to sleep on her lap. She called for a man to shave off his seven braids. Then she began to torture him because his strength had left him. She said, “Samson, the Philistines are attacking!” Samson woke up. He thought, “I’ll get out of this as usual and shake myself free.” (He didn’t realize that the LORD had left him.) The Philistines grabbed him. They poked out his eyes and took him to the prison in Gaza. They tied him up with double chains and made him grind grain in the mill there.
THIS EXACTLY WHAT the devil wants to get us
Poke Our Eyes Out -- We Lose Our Faith & Vision
Chain Us Up -- We Are So Bound That We Stop Moving
Grind At A Mill -- Keep Us In A Spiritual Rut Just Going In Circles
NOW IS THE TIME
Stir It Up -- There is an Incredible Gift from God inside of you
-- Quit letting it LIE THERE DORMANT
JUST SHAKE YOURSELF MAN
(GW)
Paul gathered a bundle of brushwood and put it on the fire. The heat forced a poisonous snake out of the brushwood. The snake bit Paul’s hand and wouldn’t let go. When the people who lived on the island saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer! He may have escaped from the sea, but justice won’t let him live.” Paul shook the snake into the fire and wasn’t harmed.
SOME OF YOU TODAY NEED TO GET TO SHAKING:
The Enemy Is Trying To Get Ahold On You
A Spirit Of Luke Warmness And Indifference Is Trying To Fasten Itself To You,
You Need To Shake It Loose. Shake That Spirit Of Addiction Loose
Shake That Nicotine Loose, Shake That Alcohol Loose
Shake That Spirit Of Unforgiveness Loose, Shake That Spirit Of Anger Loose
Shake That Hopelessness And Depression Loose,
Somebody Needs To Shake Off
The Spirit Of Poverty,
The Spirit Of Fear And Unbelief
Worry And Anxiety.
Some of you got things in your life that are DRAINING the spirit out of your life, DRAINING the joy out of your life.
You Need To Shake It Loose & Stir Up The Holy Spirit Within You
(NIV)
Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, O Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, O captive Daughter of Zion.
STIR IT UP, = bring the things on the bottom to the top,
Stir Up That Anointing, Stir Up That Calling, Stir Up That Faith, Stir Up That Love, Stir Up That Joy. Stir It Up.
ILLUSTRATION
TRUE STORY -- a High School football game at a school in FT Worth -- the home team was down 3 touchdowns coming into the 4th Quarter -- of course everybody on the Home Team side was pretty discouraged. THEN the Seniors walked down into the far left section and began to chant ‘I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” -- They kept chanting that over and over -- everybody else in the stands just stared at them.
Then the Home Team gets the ball and in 4 downs they make a touchdown -- they are down by 2 touchdowns. Now a few of the crowd is chanting with the Seniors “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” -- the other team has the ball BUT WAIT -- theres an interception and the Home Team has the ball -- NOW EVERYBODY is chanting “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” -- Home Team takes it in for a touchdown
NOW even the band is playing the cadence of “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” -- They are ONLY down by 1 touchdown!!! REMEMBER -- we’re in the 4th Quarter and not a;ot of time left. Other team has the ball BUT the Home Team keeps them from going far -- EVERYBODY IS REALLY GETTING LOUD NOW “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN” -- Home Team gets the ball and begin working the ball downfield -- LAST SECONDS OF THE GAME -- They Score and run the ball in for 2 extra points to win the game
EVERYBODY BEGAN STIRRING THEMSELVES UP FOR THE WIN AND GOT EVERYBODY STIRRED UP
IT’S TIME TO STIR IT UP AND SHAKE IT LOOSE:
“I BELIEVE THAT I AM HEALED”
“I BELIEVE THAT I WILL WIN”
“I BELIEVE THAT I WILL SEE MY SITUATION CHANGE”
Sometimes things get a little rusty, and you have to STIR IT UP -- GET UP AND SHOUT & MOVE.
Sometimes the old gate gets stuck and you have to WORK it TO LOOSEN IT.
Sometimes the old jaw bone gets a little rusty and we ain’t praisin’ like we used to, we’re not praying like we used to, we’re not singing like we used to.
It isn’t that we don’t love God -- its just that we need TO STIR OURSELVES UP to get everything back in perspective
(PassionNTPsa)
Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One! Let gentleness be seen in every relationship, for our Lord is ever near. Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things.
