7/20/19 - Courage

2 sam 4:1
Ish-Bosheth, lost his courage because his power depended on a man named Abner.. who was his father's (King Saul) General... had died.
Abner... King Saul's cousin, military commander, loyal to Saul during his struggle with David. When Saul died he made Saul's son, Ish-Bosheth, king over the northen kingdom.
Ish-Bosheth's courage as King didn't come from his own character, power, strength. It came from the position of another man. Abner, had placed Ish-Bosheth on the throne and now he was dead. His courage to lead had taken a hit because the one who gave him the authority was dead.
Today... my courage comes not from own character, power, strength. But from the one who defeated death, sin, & Hell. He is NOT dead and he's still on the throne. He has called me a son. He has called me friend. Because of HIS authority I live couragelously.
... when they saw the courage. took note they had been with Jesus.
... be COURAGEOUS!!!
Phillipians 1:12-30
LORD!! I'M NOT DEFEATED!! Repeatedly told the Israelites to BE COURAGEOUS before they took the new land. Why? Not because of their own power but because of who they were fighting for. If we are going to do big things for the Lord we MUST too live with courage. Too many live in fear of man's opinion, of missing out, of kid's not being popular. Live for the Lord with courage.
