1. Jesus lovingly points out what we lack

2. Jesus graciously offers us greater treasure

A. Look at His prediction
Jesus can easily identify with this rich young ruler. After Jesus himself is around the age of 30. Jesus himself was rich. Jesus was richer than this man could come close to imagining. Jesus live in the glory, wealth, power, and love in the presence of God the Father. And what Jesus tells this man to do is the very same thing that he did not just for that young man, but for YOU, AND YOU, YOU, AND YOU, AND ME!
Jesus has left behind more than anyone ever has or anyone ever will!
Jesus did not just leave behind wealth, lay aside his position: Jesus laid down his life for the glory of God and for the salvation of your souls!!
B. Listen to His promise

3. The cost in following Jesus will never be more than the reward you receive for following Jesus

A. Everyone will pay a price
B. Everyone is pursing treasure
For this rich young ruler: Money was his master
Gold was his god
Land was his lord
C. Jesus has made a way for you to enter the kingdom
